During the conference i was allowed to speak several times (besides my presentation) and i commented on several issues raised by colleagues. Most of the times, i could not stop tlking, and i need to thank the coordinators of the meeting for allowing me to express my opinion. I hope none was offended because i just expressed my personal opinion based on my experience, without insulting anyone in person. My incentives were to provide proper information, nothing more. I respect every opinion, even if it is the exact opposite.
The most important thing ithat came up from this meeting was that EVERYONE agrees that the e-cigarettes have a huge potential in tobacco harm reduction. The disagreement was on how to regulate them (medicinal vs no medicinal)... In some cases my comments were hard towards the e-cigarette businesses, but i was telling the truth! Unfortunately for the industry, some of the MHRA research proposals should have already been conducted by the manufacturers.
Moreover, some unprecedented statements were heard, like that e-cigarettes are 100% safe or that they have absolutely no addictive potential. I really cannot understand such statements from the e-cigarette industry, and i believe they have more to loose rather than gain by saying such things towards the regulators. Sometimes it is better to stay silent and listen rather than speak too much...
