During the conference i was allowed to speak several times (besides my presentation) and i commented on several issues raised by colleagues. Most of the times, i could not stop tlking, and i need to thank the coordinators of the meeting for allowing me to express my opinion. I hope none was offended because i just expressed my personal opinion based on my experience, without insulting anyone in person. My incentives were to provide proper information, nothing more. I respect every opinion, even if it is the exact opposite.
The most important thing ithat came up from this meeting was that EVERYONE agrees that the e-cigarettes have a huge potential in tobacco harm reduction. The disagreement was on how to regulate them (medicinal vs no medicinal)... In some cases my comments were hard towards the e-cigarette businesses, but i was telling the truth! Unfortunately for the industry, some of the MHRA research proposals should have already been conducted by the manufacturers.
Moreover, some unprecedented statements were heard, like that e-cigarettes are 100% safe or that they have absolutely no addictive potential. I really cannot understand such statements from the e-cigarette industry, and i believe they have more to loose rather than gain by saying such things towards the regulators. Sometimes it is better to stay silent and listen rather than speak too much...

The people stating they are 100% safe and not at all addictive are probably the same ones flogging 300mah ego batteries as 900's...

Apparently Dr F hit the ecig vendors pretty hard about the shit theyre doing and I cant fault him for that!!

Nope, can't fault him at all. In truth though, I think that most reputable vendors who strive to deliver quality would welcome some form of regulation that helps the industry in general. The issue starts when they impose over the top regulation that makes it hard or impossible for us to continue doing it.

Nope, but there's a fine line! MHRA is NOT the way to go, whatsoever. A correct regulatory body IS needed and not one under the MHRA's wings

KulrMeStoopid - I've got limited internet connection and can't find what this is referring to. Is he the chap that's conducting all the survey work at the moment and where did you take this information from? Thanks in advance - SB.

He's referring to the ecig summit held in London today

My recollection regarding the "statement made to the regulator" were actually a question from the floor to the panel. It concerned someone who had been told by a vendor that the ecigarettes he/she was peddling were 100% safe and nicotine was not addictive, which was, of course, dismissed by the panel as being untrue. I am sure that the question was asked by a non-vendor. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure I am not...
