What's new

Gatecrasher here I'm afraid

Thanks guys, appreciate your support.
Mark, that's what I've been thinking. It seems that the quality product has been superseded by cheap gimmicks and easy profit. This makes me mad as hell because I would have purchased a vap years ago.

It's no surprise that smokers look for something that looks like what they're used to. I get a lot of questions in the pub about my Provari or vamo etc and the usual thing is they think even an Ego is too big. Truth is you soon get used to the size of your PV. And cigalike batteries are necessarily tiny and the performance matches the size. Companies that only sell these Marlborough pack lookalikes type things make a lot of dough from the constant need for the end users to restock on expensive cartomisers and new, frankly over priced, batteries. My own view is that this, together with lacklustre performance, puts some people off who then succumb to the smokes.

What we need of course are POTV cards everywhere pointing them to a friendly forum where they can get advice on decent kit :)

Hey Defu!

Welcome to the Planet mate! Your smoking story almost mirrors mine! I smoked for twenty odd years, switch to rollies from tailor mades, and absolutely loved it! Didn't care for the breathlessness, inhalers and constant coughing and wheezing though! I was resigned to meeting an early end through smoking related problems.

Bought a Skycig on Boxing Day last year - bought a very similar set up to yours a few days later, and have been vaping like a MONSTER ever since - one fag in August - felt as sick as a dog - won't be going back to the fags any time soon!

Good luck with it mate - it will make the world of difference to you - but will be a pain in the arse financially if you get "shinyitis"! :woot:

Hi Kulr
I've also ordered 60mg of juice, and having a feeling this is going to last me a couple of hours....

I'd very much appreciate honest opinions, cheers.

I hope you meant 60ml lol

If you got 60ml, that should last you a a few days (minus spillage/leakage)

Keep some water handy to drink, because vaping can dry you out. And try not to overdo it :) Keep the wick wet and give it a few mins to soak in and vape away!

Hi Defu, and welcome (I'm a noob here too!).
I've been vaping just over 3 months, thought I would take it up to cut down my daytime consumption, turned out I cut out the stinkies straight away.
I've just got my first mod (a big shiny battery holder which enables you to change voltage and wattage supplied to the atomiser), and have reached the point where everything is how I would like it so no more big spends for the next couple of months.
Hope you find the forum useful, there's loads of reading here to educate you into the finer points of vaping. Don't forget to ask a question if you come across something you don't understand - as the Boss said above, we were all at your stage once.
Hope the kit does the job for you, and here's to a tobacco-free 2013 for us all!
Andy

@ Kulr, oopsy, yeah, 60ml (told you my IQ is in double digits!). I've read about the dehydration which sort of seems counterintuitive!

@ EthelKing, glad it's worked out for you mate, and damn, I just know I'm going to turn into one of the geeky collectors and end up remortgaging my house to keep up with the latest shiny toys!!

@ Mark, exactly, I've wondered how many people have tried those crappy things and then resigned themselves that they'll remain hardcore smokers for the rest of their lives? The ugly side of Capitalism, but I won't stray into that area....

And cheers Bryan, I realise that vaping ain't NRT and I think that's why it appeals to me. Although vaping just seems to make sense to me in that it ticks all the boxes: the rituals and the nicotine itself. I'm really anti Allen Carr and that brigade, or anyone who says the word should, which just drives me to do the opposite (I'm a stubborn son of **** sometimes). Having said this, I'm going to do my damnedest to stay of the ciggie once I've got my new toy :)

This!

I started with some cheap nasty cigalikes from Amazon and they put me off. My own bull headedness refused to belive that this was what all the fuss was about as they were crap. So I dug a little deeper on my own and ended up with some TW stuff (don't shoot me!) As this will eventually break, I'll be looking at replacing the kit and I'll be here pestering everyone :)

Welcome defu, good luck with your new hobby, and it is a hobby to many of us. Don't worry about asking as many questions as you like, we've all been there and it can seem like a new language at first :D we are all very friendly here and love to help out.

Oh cool, there's a few noobs on this thread - this is good, and I'm glad it's working out for you guys. And thanks everyone for you support I really appreciate you taking time out to write something on here.

Anyhoo, which thread do I go to find out all the techy info for the noob? Specifically - atty vs cart, are the China sites any good for these? Best Uk sites for liquids etc etc.

Happy New year guys and thanks again.

p.s yeah Kulr, I meant ml!!! Okay, where's the noob/blushing emoty thing-a-muh-bob? Thanks for those tips btw.... Will take heed. http://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/forums/member.php/3011-KulrMeStoopid
