Going to dump Pulse bf

hello
After a lot of discussion and looking around the internet, have decided the mech mod is not safe to use
Many people have had them melt etc

melt? ....... do you have some links, that seems nuts, something would have to be getting ridiculously hot for that to happen.

easiest and safest starter set is the Kanthal multi packs on Amazon for example, most of those worked fine as is and a safe Ohms setup, but the best single coil options have been the Ni80 Coilology 7 in 1 pack and again the ideal ohms
(sounds like a good idea for the name of a vape exhibition - Ideal Ohm Exhibition lol).

You can get them on Ecigone which is where I got mine from:

Have you got a mod where you can read the Ohm's on?

I have been building for a few years. I feel I am really good at building and have a decent knowledge of vaping in general (but still far from an expert)... And I still wouldn't go near a mech mod. I don't know why, I think there are too many variables, it's not just the build it's the type of batteries, their ratings, discharge rate etc. I don't know I just don't see the need with the quality of regulated mods these days to even have a 1% chance of blowing your face off with a slight mistake on a mech.

That's from someone with a couple years experience and fairly good understanding, never mind someone who is still fairly knew to all this. Good for you for seeing the safety side of things! :2thumbsup:

I couldn't agree more. How many times have we seen in the news reports of mobile phones and laptops spontaneously combusting due to a manufacturing flaw in the batteries? As you say there are too many variables. I wouldn't go near a mech. It is like running all the electrical items in your without any circuit protection.

Guy in vape shop has shown me the pulse 80 regulated mod
I asked, are there any problems with this, his answer was no
Is this true,I am a little cautious about the reliability of vandyvape products

Each to their own and you are absolutely right to stay in your safety comfort zone.

I haven't heard of a single Pulse safety problem since I've been on POTV, plenty of regulated devices going tits up though.

I've got 4 pulses and 4 Athena mechs, all have great ventilation and simple circuits with fire button locks, I've always kept everything well within the safety parameters and common sense checking your battery condition, and simple visual check of the condition of your mod, always build and test your coils on a regulated device or ohms tester - very little else to do.

Too many variables?
  • Only buy trusted batteries, charge and maintain them properly (which is the same for regulated devices)
  • Sensible coil building (same with a regulated device) I rarely stray under 0.10 ohms - usually 0.3 to 0.5 sometimes higher using branded wire or premade coils.
  • Visual check of the circuit, by their nature the circuits are so simple you can see if there's any potential problem, the only moving part is the fire button making contact to complete the circuit (something you can't do on a regulated device)
  • There are no electronics in a mech so less chance of anything failing
I try not to dismiss anything that I haven't tried, help is always on here and I've learned almost everything from experienced users and the 'scary' transition to squonking on a mech mod was far easier than I imagined.

Getting rid of my Pulses as the Athena's have replaced them so if I get bored I might try a Myth Busters experiment to see if I can get one to fail (safely of course)

I have mine on the way so i cant tell you yet, reviews for it are amazing though. Sure a few poeple on here has had one for a while.

True true, I don't like dismissing anything either but not when theres a saftey risk. In no way am I saying people who use mechs are stupid, maybe the inexperienced people who hear 'mechs = bigger cloudzzz' and dont know how to use them, yes THEY are. I just dont trust myself not to get lazy or slip up or something. I agree theres more to go wrong in regulated but usually just bricking not anything dangerous.

Everytime you hear a news story about a vape blowing up in someones puss i dont think I have ever seen it not turn out to be a mech, the were probably the people I mentioned above I agree but personally I just dont feel the need :)

Each to their own though, stay safe :14:

It's clear you are concerned with using a mech and until you know what you are doing with one then the natural way is a regulated.

Had the Pulse 80 and used it for months, zero issues and a good mod, battery life isn't great but for you it's better than the mech pulse as you can do Variable Wattage and Temp Control when you are ready to learn that.

I've had no issues with Vandy Vape products.
