Hi All,

Just got some PG base NIC, some VG Glycerin and some flavourings to start mixing.

I've read through the guides and wikis but just wondered if you have and golden rules/top tips for me before i start - what are the biggest lessons you have learned?

Also interested to know what your basic lab kit set up is? What do you mix in? straight from syringe to bottle or do you use a mixing flask etc??

Also i have one burning specific question regrading watering down pure VG - Vodka? de-ionised water? i've read some contradictory info on De-ionised water vs. Distilled (difficult to get and expensive).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Stephen

Start with very small sample mixes, I do mine at 5ml. Keep copious notes of exactly what goes on each mix. Nothing worse than creating 5mls of a killer tasting juice and then being unable to replicate it in larger quantities because you've forgotten the ratios of the flavorings.

Stay with simple mixes first (one or two concentrates) because they're much easier to get acceptable results from.

I use syringes exclusively for measuring, a range of sizes from 1 to 50 mls is useful.

Keep everything as clean as possible.

I don't water down my vg at all. Never had a problem even with 90/10 mixes but I do tend to use drippers rather than tanks

Edit. Do not get nic base in your eyes!

I just mix straight from syringe to bottle , but that's just me , and as far as watering down VG I don't even bother now . But I am sure someone will come along and tell you different .Anyways best of luck with your mixtures hope they turn out for you. Mix small tester samples first that way you won't waste to much if it's not to your liking .All the best Mark

Beat me to it simonsays wee must have been typing at same time exept I am hopeless as slow as a week in hell

Even in my tanks I don't get a problem , 70 vg 30 pg I mostly use drippers though only use a tank if driving

Cheers.

Thanks guys. good advice.

want to make max VG juice for drippers so that's really helpful RE watering down.

what about cleaning your tings? do you sterilise your syringes between uses?

I usually just give them a good wash out , as soon as I can and it has always been enough for me . Hope this helps

My mixing stuff gets dipped in Milton solution, rinsed and left to air dry.

Or left to get sticky and nasty on my bedside cabinet before being thrown out

I am another one that uses Milton fluid to clean the equipment after use.
