10 weeks at sea wow, are you on a quest for big cod? I'm also intrigued how you get your post got an image of a cold wet postie in shorts fighting the waves in a rotten red rowing boat!
For tppp and Nasty Boy and anyone else wondering, the post doesn't actually come out to the vessel, we can only get it when we get into port. Before a ship goes into port the shipping company will employ a company known as a shipping agent to act as a shoreside liaison for the ship. Any personal post (along with ships post, provisions, spares and stores) is sent to the agent who will have an office in or near the port. When the ship comes in, the agent sends a representative down to the ship with all the stuff that needs to be delivered. The only problem with getting personal parcels this way is that a shipping agent typically charges a pretty hefty fee for all the services they offer, so a lot of shipping companies (and by extension the Captains onboard) aren't keen on having parcels delivered for the crew and officers onboard. Thankfully the Captain I'm sailing with just now is pretty understanding about the whole thing, and actually started recommending stuff to tag onto my second order to try out, like the Red Bull juice from WickedELiquid and CE4+ clearos.
