It shouldn't be the Kanthal then. Did you flame the mesh before you coiled it to remove any grease/impurities? I have an RSST and it offers a good performance - particularly at it's price point. The most obvious thing that could be tasting bad of course is the juice but i have no experience with the ones you mention - I assume they are Hangsen from the name but if not what brand?

What happens if you ramp up the wattage on the SID to 15W? And do you have any other atty's you can try at that power with the same juice too.

Yeah, flamed it slightly just to get rid of oil and stuff, not enough to actually blacken it or anything.
The turkish tobacco is Liqua/Richy, and the Menthol is Hangsen .

And my wick/coil are looking distinctly unhappy. The wick has gone dark brown going to darker brown under the coil, and the coil itself has gone black, and I noticed soot/carbon particles in the top cap. I was thinking about maybe a 7 wrap coil instead of 5 wraps, to bump the resistance up a little bit. Would that make for a cooler vape/less charring? Or would my SID just output more voltage to compensate for the increased resistance?
