What's new

Has anyone ever made a DIY juice that honestly compares to a "premium" store bought.

I would LOVE to find a clone for "CRUNCHY CREAM DONUTS" juice called; 'frosted lemon cream donut'.... Its right up there in my alltime fave juice and is now my ADV
And its not easy to find in the UK.. Ive got a pal that goes to the states once a month and he brings it back for me, CHEAP

Once you learn the qualities of each flavoring it's fairly easy.

Test each flavoring separately, start with very low percentages and keep adding more flavoring and taking notes to do with how the taste changes with each percentage increase.

Once it starts tasting strange that marks your general maximum percentage for that flavoring.. if it tastes shit all the way through the percentages you know it's no good for your taste.

Once you've done this with each flavoring it gets pretty easy to guess recipe percentages and get a quite high recipe success rate.

2 so far and their my favourite premium , my looper clone is 95% there but I don't think I'll ever get it perfect and I've just perfected ohw milkman after about 7 batches so I'm happy :-) , took me a while and that's using tfa and fa flavourings, to be honest though some of my own mixes have turned out well, premium tasting but not based on any off the shelf liquid, trial and error and each to their own I suppose.

I've been mixing for a couple months and I'm finding it hit and miss.

Not vaped any premium for a while, so went down to be local B&M and sucked off every flavour on the counter. I have to say I prefer my juices to 80% of the stuff there.

Homebrews seem cleaner to me as well but have yet to match the 20% I thought were proper premium.

A lot of it is psychological, and I'm as guilty of this as anyone. Juices taste better because they cost a lot.

I think the very best premium juices are difficult to match because they're made by chemists from scratch, not from stock flavourings, but these represent probably less than 10% of juices.

I read recently that Mother's Milk, for example, is made from Capella flavourings so any one of us could copy it.

The Milkman (not OHW) is actually a clone of a juice I've been making for 2 years.

I came up with a mix recently that tastes as "premium" as anything I've tried, and every time I vape it I think it came out of an expensive bottle.

The answer is, be bold, use your imagination and try mixing flavours you may not think go together.
Would you mind sharing The Milkman recipe?

No problem, it's very simple.

15% strawberry - I mix various strawberries together for this - sweet, ripe, plain and jam.

10% cream base. I use a lot of this which I make by mixing equal amounts of every cream or similar that I have, including butter, malted milk, condensed milk, vanilla and caramel.

1 drop per 2ml of acetyl pyrazine, but this can be increased if you can't taste it.

Not knocking your recipe at all cos it sounds spot on but acetyl pyrazine is a bit controversial, no?

Thank you very much for sharing!

@mannikon It's quite controversial, but it's all about the amount it's in. Most of the flavours contain it in (really) minor amount anyway including in the reformulated "non-containing" flavours (Source: http://international.capellaflavors.com/a-p-status/, Flavour Art's Website).

I'm just getting more seriously into DIYing so unfortunately I don't know much information about the scientific data on amounts and etc. Personally for now I trust the big flavour manufactures that do independent tests on their flavours that they know are used for vaping, and only use the reformulated ones and the ones the flavour manufactures give a green light themselves. In the mean time I'll keep educating myself about safe levels and etc. and avoid adding more AP myself until I know more.

Acetyl pyrazine is not controversial as in harmful, it's not a diketone (like Acetyl propionyl). It's the use of it to increase dopamine production in yer brain ...

Oh right that was my bad.. Yeah seems like all additives are quite controversial, no?

To revolve back to the thread - the answer here really is ingredients and additives used. If you manage to get them in the right mix, you get a "premium" juice, there is no other secret.

I often see mentioned around the DIY community that vendor juices usually contain a ton of sweeteners (Surcalose in particular). What's the state on using Surcalose in the jucies? Is it safe? What's the general consensus on the issue (besides the obvious if you don't feel safe, don't vape it)?
