Having problems..... just simply failing.

So i started trying to make my own juice, but as it happens every recipe i have tried (recipes from POTV) have tasted harsh and to be fair quite pissy if that makes sense. I have tried airing them, water baths along with steeping in hope they get better but no luck ..... so you my only option is to ask the apes what am i doing wrong?

I tried this recipe today after 1 week to get a feel and well lets just say the feel i got felt like troat rape. https://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/e-liquid-recipes/strawberry-ice-cream.html

All my pg,vg, nic and concentrates have be bought and personally collected from chefs (awesome place i may add, 20 minute drive is worth it) but every recipe i have tried is harsh and not a good taste to follow. Minimum steep i have tried the juice at are 1 week shaking before and after work.

I was hoping to get something along the lines of strawberry whip from element or strawberry milkshake from milkshake man, just a candy type strawberry!

On hand i have left:
ripe strawberry-FA
Sweet strawberry-CAP
Vanilla bean ice cream-FA
Bavarian cream-FA

Also using 72 mg nic 100%vg base, batches made to be 6mg nic.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
im gonna stick my neck out here and say that's too much strawberry ripe, fine on its own but in a mix with other flavours too much imo.
some people taste flavours different than others though and this is my take on it.
ive posted this elsewhere today lol but the best punchy strawberry mix ive found is-

tpa strawberry 4% (inw shisha strawberry 3% works well too)
tpa ripe strawberry 4%
tpa dragonfruit 1%

doesn't fade as much as cap sweet strawberry.
Icecream base-

fa fresh cream 1%
fa marshmallow 1%
fa meringue 1%
tpa vbic 4%

if it was me with the flavours you have (im guessing your ripe straw and vbic are tpa not fa) id go with

ripe strawberry 4%
sweet strawberry 4%
(if you have any dragonfruit 1%)
vanilla bean ice cream 4%
Bavarian cream 2%

Cheers brother and yes they were TPA not FA, my bad! Picked up some dragonfruit today along with PG based nic which i got from a different vendor (darkstar) as recomended! I will definately be giving this a go.

If you dont mind me asking what kind of steep time we looking at around 2 weeks?

for best results mix your ice cream base first with your pg&vg&nic theres not loads of cream so try a week.
then add the strawberry and leave for a further 24hrs.
a longer steep will be better but for trying it out do a 10ml if you like it then do a larger batch steep creams 3 weeks
then add the fruit.
I find with strawberry creams can take over the strawberry in the steeping process if you steep the cream first the strawberry just sits on top.
dragonfruit really helps to give strawberry a boost aslong as you keep it low 1%
got a mod milk clone here that's really good too

I'm into my first stab at DIY'ing and your comment has me twitched as to why VG based nic has the potential to be less good than PG based nic.

Without giving it any real consideration, I opted for VG based nic when buying all the components. While I've not experienced any issue's with my first attempts, I'd like to know the reasoning for your statement to be able to make more informed buying decisions in the future....meanwhile I've close to 500ml of VG nic stored in the freezer - hope it doesn't cause me issue's further down the line!
As long as you've got a good supply and are keeping it air tight in the freezer then its very unlikely that you will have any problems, The statement comes from reading about peoples problems when it comes to nicotine base and the peppery/harsh taste that they get from it, I'm sure there are some examples of PG based problems but I'm pretty sure all the ones that I've read about come from a VG base. I don't know why this is the case though, maybe it is due to it being less popular than PG base and vendors are just incorrectly storing it.

Thank you bananas; feel confident that I'm not going to have any problem's associated with my nic, it's from a favoured source (Darkstar)

Next top-up of nic will be PG based just in case...and being less viscous will be a good thing too!:)

only problem with PG based nic is that it prevents high VG mixes eg 25% flavour(theyre mainly PG based) means no other PG if you want a 75/25 split
