Hello fellow Apes!
I'm still alive! Can't believe it's been that long since i had my last ciggie...and never looked back. Just had my bi annual physical, and bar being tad overweight, my health is good. A far cry from 2018 when just after giving up the cigs, i had a couple of minor strokes (thankfully i recovered from those), had my cataracts done that year, and then a few years later i got hit with the big C...i survived it all! I'm as healthy as i'm ever going to be, eyesight and hearing still giving me problems and i developed Tinnitus 3 years ago as well (yeah that's a whole lot of fun right there - NOT! ), just another thing i gotta get use to, but otherwise I'm doing alright. Still busy with my many projects, last year i took up a government grant to have the entire heating system replaced for one of those heat source pump thingies + solar panels, first time i've ever had those before. After that got done, there was a whole lot of tidying up to do, and i've been slowly going through the house, nearly there....refitting my bedroom presently. The winter storms finished off the last of the original timber fences yet to be replaced, so got all that to do later on in the summer...oh joy...i hate digging holes!
Hope everyone is okay.....anybody from 'class of 2018' still around?! Oh....er one more thing; anybody here follow the AFL footy in Australia? New season about to kick off, i'm looking for folks to join me and Tazz in a tipping comp for 2025 season. First round kicks off on 6th of March with the short opening round. You don't need to know much about the teams, every year there nearly always a different club that wins and there's only 18 of them. I did hold one in 2023, but didn't get any takers, other than me and Tazz, so would be nice if i could find a couple more to join in. I have left this a tad late, didn't realise that the season was kicking off earlier than in past years, but the opening round only has the 8 top teams playing to begin with, so 4 games. Brisbane Lions won it last season, who will get the crown this year?!
I shall post a new thread somewhere, probably the Red Light District, unless there's a sport thread i can use, i'll find something.
Anyhoo, i'm toasting myself tonight with a glass or two (of beer!)...busy as ever, and hope things are good with everyone on here. Do come have a lookie around on the AFL tipping thread when i've set it up, i'll explain the rules (they're not complicated), and general way the game is played (it's not like international footy, wrong shape ball!), but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.
