Sorry not fake news! I live in a rural area and our local pubs and such have been doing takeaway/click&collect which has now been banned!

You must not leave, or be outside of your home except where necessary.

So you cant even stand on the pavement outside your home?

Maybe I was wrong to call it "fake news" but that is the papers hyping things up a treat by intimating a ban on booze.....................

Okay, look if you want booze then you buy it from your local shop, or once a week with your normal weekly shop supermarket. :)

With the weather at the moment I don't particularly want to go outside. :18:

Yeah I see your point!
I’m wondering how many pubs are going to get a rebate on their off licence if they’re not being allowed to sell?

Unless the laws have changed in the last 10 years or so pubs had two choices when applying for a licence for a pub, or renewing an existing licence.
They could apply for a licence "to sell intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises" or a licence to "to sell intoxicating liquor for consumption on, or off the premises"

Either way the landlord of your local pub was / is wrong, probably, I say probably because as I said in recent years the licencing laws may have changed.

But as I understand the licencing laws in the way I explained.
If under the previous rules of restrictions, if he was selling takeaway alcohol he was breaking the law if he did not have an "off the premises" licence.

If he indeed has an "off the premises" licence then he should in theory be able to trade as he is acting as an off licence where you can buy alcohol, and drink it at home.

Don't get me wrong, I think pubs / landlords have got the shit end of the stick several times this year in many ways.
Do this, and you can reopen, nope shut down again sorry you have spent that money, hey you can open again but you you have to spend more money on this & that, great you can open again,oh fuck you have to close again.....................

I doubt my nearest local will stand much more of this, and may well not re open.

It's a fucking shame, and a shambles that many of the small pubs, both town, and villages will be lost forever, when they are part of the British heritage.
