Hi guys,

I am looking to make my own mixes for personal use.

I ordered Capello Blueberry and Capello Cool Mint flavours

i also have pharmacutical grade PG & VG.

I have the empty bottles and syringes etc but i am not sure how to mix it all etc.

I will not be using nicotine as i am a 0%'er

I like the fruit flavours online e.g. Shisha Range from Ukecig.co.uk but can't really afford to buy them all the time and i'd love to be able to make my own mixes.

Anyone give any tips or help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

same one is located here http://wiki.planetofthevapes.co.uk/wiki/Guide_To_Mixing as well as a guide to various flavour concentrates by different manufacturers.

Since you arent using Nic, its going to be super easy for you and you may need less FC than someone using nic may need. Capella flavours need a steep...at least 3 (in my opinion) but 7 is best for flavour.

Depending on the PG/VG ratio you want to use, that's all you really have to work out....

All my capella flavours have needed at least 15%

Thanks guys,

Kurl - what do you mean by FC? and 3 and 10?

oh i got so de-ionised water too to dilute the VG

Could i just mix and smoke straight away???

Some flavours you can, a lot of the fruit ones are pretty much ok from the get go but others the flavour develops over time. Check out our huge flavour review section as it has steeping recommendations there for each flavour (note to self-stop vaping and write up new reviews!!!).

When I first started mixing, the best tip I got was to make small quantities until you know you're 100% happy with the result.

The handiest tip I picked up was to pre-mix the VG and water. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs .... the reason for this is pure VG is thicker than PG and so could easily gum up your atty unless you thin it out to be more like PG.
(different makes of VG have differing thicknesses so will need more or less water / vodka)
I'm currently using 15% water, 85% VG. rather than measuring out tiny bits of water, I get an empty 30ml bottle and fill it with 4.5ml water and 25.5 ml VG. then the maths is a step easier.
For my mixing I prefer to use 1ml syringes - it might take a bit longer but it's more accurate for measuring and so the end results are more consistent.

I tend to like my mixes 50/50 PG/VG so for me, a 10ml zero nic 50/50 mix with 15% flavouring would be:
1.5ml flavour
4.25ml PG
4.25ml of the VG water mix

Mix 'em, give em a hot bath, leave them for a day with the top off (these 2 seem to give the steeping a head start)...... then chuck it in a drawer for a couple more days.

That's a very very simplified approach though. look at the section at the top - there's very good advice in there.

Thanks so much guys. The advice is really appreciated. Kudosto you all.

Allen - What do you mean by "give em a hot bath" ? - Thanksfor your reply it really helps. i got 500ml of Pharma PG and 500ml of Pharma VG coming tomorrow aswell as my Capella Blueberry and Capella Cool Mint flavours, i want to make a minty blueberry to smoke. I will pick up the De-ionised water tomorrow too,

should i premix the whole 500ml of VG with the deionised water? - If i can get help on best way to do this that would be fab

Thanks all.

Hi I just starting mixing, the capella blueberry is awesome, but it needs to steep for a week,
I did have a little taste 5 days in couldn't wait! The way capella flavours smell makes you want to just drink it straight out of the bottle:2thumbsup:
I mixed first 80/20 pg/vg but now I do 70/30 with 15% flavour, good luck.

Hi Messiah

'give em a hot bath'.......... it's to do with steeping.
I get the feeling you're not 100% familiar with that so I'll start from scratch:
It's a term more commonly used with herbal teas (Wow - am I that much of an old hippy?). Basically it means letting things 'stew' a while to let the flavour come out properly and settle. Have you ever noticed or heard how a curry will often taste better the next day - when all the flavours have had plenty of time to spread out evenly into everything? (okay, an old chubby hippy)

e-juice is the same - a lot of them need time for the flavouring to spread out properly - without leaving for a while some flavours can taste weak or sometimes just plain nasty.
Some might need only a couple of days - some can take nearly a month before they're at their best

so.... the hot bath...... when you've mixed your bottle of juice give it a good shake then let it stand (I do this with the lid off) in some shallow, warm to hot water.
you don't want it to too deep - if the bottle tries to float and tips over you'll be gutted
You don't want it too hot either - for one thing some bottles can melt (I've had that) and also if you make it too hot the water you've added to thin it out could evaporate off as steam - making it more likely to gum up your atty.
Warming it up like this just helps all the different liquids mix together better - you've got PG, VG, water and flavouring all in there with different consistencies; warming them up will get them mixing better.
Doing this gives the whole steeping process a decent head start - When I learned it, the person writing about it said it could speed up the steeping process by a couple of days; I don't know about that but it certainly does seem to help.

As for mixing the whole bottle of VG - I don't and I wouldn't, I'll just do about 30 or 50 ml depending on how much juice I'm making.
The reason is simply because I wonder, if I leave it around for a long time, will it thicken up again at all? in truth, it probably won't - but I can't be bothered to take the risk of having ejuice that's too gooey to vape.

Is that any help to you?

Today is nangka mixed with vanilla and blackcurrant (all inawera) - To be honest, I think the blackcurrant was a mistake ;)

VG has a chemical structure and there are no differences in thicknesses unless it's VGA

A hot bath would distort LDPA and HDPA bottles and could damage some flavour concentrates - a warm bath is good though and accelerates molecules and inter-reactions. Rather than chucking into a drawer for a few days, putting the e liquids somewhere warm helps

Always steep with the top on - it prevents contamination and the loss of volatile aromatics. It can also help create thermo dynamics within liquids/air in the steping bottle, which helps.
