Help! New to diy juice

Im thinking of mixing my own but it does seem daunting. What are the main ingredients required? I prefer vg liquids so do I just need
1.vg glycol
2.nicotine base
3.flavouring
4.mixer bottles etc

help appreciated. I have looked at the wiki page and found it a bit ott info wise

The basic ingredients for self-mixing are...

Vegetable Glycerin (Boots £1.28 for 100 ml)

Propylene Glycol (eBay cheapest I believe)

Nicotine Base (Cheapest not always best option,75 mg max allowed without a poisons licence)

Flavourings (Classikool on ebay,The Old Fantasy something or other is NannyBakes [Karen])

POTV or eJuiceMeUp mixing calculator

Bottles (I re-use the bottles from my pre-mixed juices I've bought)

You can also often find flavouring concentrates of some premium juice suppliers such as T-Juice,thus allowing you to have 100+ ml of a premium juice for the same price as a 10 ml bottle of pre-mixed.

Boots sell VG? is it good enough quality or do I need to mix with water?

I have only just started DIY, you could get what you have listed above, but I would suggest buying some PG as well, I tend to like a 60/40 VG/PG mix, most of the flavours & Nic base are PG based, so its just to tweek your mix to the final ratios..

The ejuice me up calculator is brilliant IMO, I also have a load of 1mm & 2.5mm syringes (thanks to a nurse friend) so precise measurements of small quantities is made easier.. the basic mixing is the easy bit, its getting the flavours right that is the trial and error part, I got all my main ingredients via the vendors section here on POTV, just clicked through them all and looked who was doing what at the best price, I got 100ml x 72mg Nic base, 500ml x PG, 500ml x VG and some blunt needles to go on my syringes, the flavours I went for 30ml cheap ones from ebay from a couple of different sellers, so I can see any differences in strength.. My plan is to see if I can make something vape-able from the cheap flavours, if I can I will then invest in a range of better flavours from the likes of Flavouart, Lourann, Capella etc..

My first attempt is a 15% Lemon & Lime (single cheap ebay flavour), 60/40 VG/PG at 18mg, made 10ml at a rough cost of 57pence.. its better than a couple of shop bought fruity flavours I have tried.. had to add a few extra drops of flavour so next batch I will do at 20% flavouring..

Best tutorial I have seen on Youtube is here, have a watch, sometimes its easier than reading it..

One point to note.. I made sure all the flavours purchased from ebay said they were suitable for e-liquid.. Thats very important..

There are some nasty chemicals in some of them which must be avoided.. They also have to be water or alcohol based..

Cupcake world do a sensibly priced flavour range and it tells you in the description if they are suitable to vape or not, I might try them before moving onto the good stuff, only reason I didn't this time was the P&P made them slightly more expensive than ebay sellers..

Cupcake world are also on Amazon

madpiano CupCake World seem to have a much wider range of flavours on Amazon than on their website, and they are good value. I bought a few of the singles (actually two-packs) plus the 'Eastern Magic' 5 pack of oriental fruits & lemongrass - lovely fruity tastes, good flavour depth between 15-20% for a single variety liquid mix and suitable for vaping as they're water soluble and PG based.

I'm also considering buying from directly from TPA (the perfumer's apprentice/the flavor apprentice) in the US; there is huge amount of information on their website for each specific flavour they produce - recommended reading even if you are buying their product from a UK supplier, and they also indicate elements of flavourings that may not be suitable for inhalation, e.g. Acetyl Propionyl - this is an element of some buttery & custard flavourings, it replaces diacetyl, but sadly may not be suitable for vaping - unfortunately the vanilla bean ice-cream flavour they make (& which I love) contains this :(
