Hi, i'm very new to e-cigs and vaping, i started using Sunrise Pro about 6 weeks ago and after 4 weeks i started to look for something better as the taste/longevity of them wasnt very good, have since been trawling forums ever since and took some second hand advice and bought a VE Riva 1100 Deluxe Kit from vapeescape, which was great for about 6 days and then the clearomiser started to give a strange taste (slightly burnt) tried washing it out and using the carto's that came with it until it was dry, this didnt help. So i bought a new clearomizer 510 - Vision 'Redux' with spare atomizer...

The 1st Amomizer lasted for about 5-6 hours before it started giving the same taste as the last one so i changed to 2nd atomizer and that lasted about 4-5 draws before the taste went bad again!

I can only assume i'm doing something very wrong?

The menthol juice i'm using is still fine in the carto's btw, so i dont think juice is the problem...

I hope someone can give me some advice on what i'm probably doing wrong?

Been completely of analogue's for 4 weeks now and loving the health benifits, but struggling with my vaping sadly and dont ever want to back to sinkers.

P.S Sorry for the lengthy post

Hi Mikton and welcome to the planet!

What is happening is it sounds like the wick/fibre isn't staying wet enough, so the coil is essentially getting too hot and causing the nasty taste.

Depending on the Cartomiser/Clearomiser, you will need to keep them topped up, never letting them go dry (ever!) because that nasty taste is one hard bastard to get rid of. The redux appears to be pretty much the same as this one here http://marketplace.planetofthevapes.co.uk/ce5-ce4-ce4-clearomizer-ce4-plus?filter_name= CE5 just with a different mouth piece.

Sometimes the pre-made coiled heads that you get, are wrapped too tightly by the coil inside. You can do one of 2 things, snip one of the wicks as close to the head as possible and then wiggle it out the other side, or start making your own coils for these. Which is by far easier and cheaper than buying them over and over again.

Also, remember to do the Clearo "tilt" this is where you tilt the ecig pretty much on its side, swirl the juice around the wick closest to the openings where the coil is. You will want to do this regularly as the juice will, thanks to gravity, eventually settle.

Hope that helps!

As well as the above, try to check what the resistance of the clearomiser is. The lower the resistance, the more heat will be going through the coils and sometimes low resistance coils are more prone to the dreaded burnt taste. Trying a higher resistance coil might help if you're currently using low resistance.

Hi KulrMeStoopid

Thank you for the welcome and the advice i hadent realised clearo's could be rebuilt, but i had a look around and found vid's that covered it.. looks quite easy :) just need to get some parts.

And thank you steffijade i'm sure your advice is sound, but its way beyond me at the moment though i'm sure once i fugure it out and have the right equipment it'll all make sense :)

Yes it was good advice as always from KMS and hello Mikton welcome to the forum.

I hope you have the problem solved now :)
The Clearo's you have can be washed out Btw, Simply unscrew the drip tip and base if it unscrews on the model you have, Then Rinse all parts in hot water. Everything is water soluble, If you get water down the center air hole simply blow a couple of times from either end to clear it, any other slight moisture wont matter. Simply pat dry.

Don't panic should you get the Atomiser wet, but try avoid it if possible ( it will dry out & even if damp will still work when juice flowing). Most people might rinse when changing juice, depending on if you have spare Clearo's for other juice use, Or perhaps an over used carto (wick sludgy or use of thick or dark liquid) and tend to do this overnight ready for next day, but good practice to clean things from time to time anyway.

Drying out completely, personally I never found it necessary as it gets re-wet with juice regardless lol.

There are many deals to be had and savings made by checking out vendors and using the posted discount codes as you probably know.

Ps: Do not worry of the length of post, this is the Internet and the ink is free :)

Hi I went from a green smoke cigalike to the riva 1100 kit from vapeescape, i quickly realised I liked tanks, so now I use Kanger T3's with my riva 1100 battery, I got them from Liberty flights uk, they are easy to clean out, bottom coil so always stay wet no dry hits, flavour stays till they need refilling, refilling is so easy. They sell spares so when its gone, you just screw another in, I love them, :)
ps low resistance great load of vapour, they come in low, medium and high. Hope that helps

Hi izzy11
Funnily enough i ordered a Kanger T3 yesterday :) i like tanks too, flavour/vapour seems to be so much better...

But thanks for the vote of confidence with T3's :)

I'm still going to get parts and try rebuilding ato's though, think it'll work out a lot cheaper.

I think the Kanger T3s are pretty good...IMO, the lowest resistance head (1.8ohms) is the best taste and they are easy to refill. I'd been using them for a couple of weeks before I checked out Todd's tutorial on rebuilding them (YouTube- Todd's ecig reviews and tutorials). They are a bit of a fiddle until you get the hang of it, but it becomes a bit of a hobby! And you can build them exactly how you like them. But even if you don't fancy going down that route, the replacement heads are pretty reasonably priced.

And at the start, I should have said...'Welcome and congratulations on 4 weeks fag free":welcome1:

Hi Nellie,

Thank you for the welcome and ulations :P

I'd watched Todd's review and rebuilding of T3 ato's and thats what made me order a T3 he seemed so impressed with them, also ordered a couple of replacement heads just incase :)
