"Hilarious" Guardian article

+1 to the cockwomble description :)

But seriously, has anyone heard the term "hot smoking"? If I Google I get stuff about smoking fish, in the sense of preserving them. (The other way, they're hell to light - too soggy.)

I think as already stated "hot smoking" is one of the ways they make kippers. You can do me with a wet kipper if I've got that one wrong.
"smirting" I haven't got a clue, I think he made that one up.
"cigarettiquette" or "cigar etiquette" as it should, is what it says.
Do you think we need to send the muppet a vapers dictionary, He might stand a chance then. (no sorry, belay that, he'll cherry pick it)

Ps. Smirting is a by product of the smoking ban. Found this definition. Smirting is the practice of smoking and flirting outside public places such as pubs, bars, cafés, restaurants, and office buildings where smoking is prohibited.

I used to agree with him - 'vaping' sounded painfully American and yokelish when I started off, but I've kind of gotten used to it now. 'Course if I was writing the article I wouldn't throw rape in there. Not because I find it offensive, it's just not good word play.
