Hi
Don't mind admitting I need some help. Stepped up from a vape pen to a mod and it's not going well. After much googling & reading reviews I bought a Smok Alien mod & Aspire Cleito 1200 tank. Ordered a few 70/30 liquids and it all arrived on Friday. Excited, I charged the batteries & filled the tank, letting it soak for 20 mins. Sett the watts at 60, opened the airflow up and then hit the fire bar. HOLY HELL!!!
After less than a second it was so hot it burned my lips & inside my mouth. I damn near dropped the thing on the floor. Has anyone any idea what I've done wrong. It's the standard 0.16 coil with mod set at 60watt. Temp is 300°c. Set up shows TC-SS. Airflow is wide open. I've spent about £100 on something that I want to love but I'm currently scared of. Any & all help is appreciated

Hi and welcome to the planet. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing that your stock coils will be kanthal and you say that the Alien is set up for stainless.
I can't help with the doing of it because I don't own an Alien, but read your manual and change the setting to whatever it tells you the coil is.....that should help a lot.

The mod is in temp control and you are using a non suitable coil for temp control you need to be in wattage mode for that coil

Seems like you have mod set to temp mode. Which is only used with compatible coils. If it's not a tc coil, you need to go into menu and select wattage mode.

Also 300c is generally the max on most mods , so if using tc coils you wanna start a bit lower until you find your sweet spot.

Three clicks of fire bar to enter programming mode.
Change it wo watts and try again on the lowest setting for the coil.
As above you're in the wrong mode on the mod.
You've probably fried the coil so after youve changed mode to wattage you'll need to change the coil and prime again.

hi start with lower watts and build up slow to get it at a temp that suits you going in at 60 watts could be a bit to much for a new coil and could burn it out hope this helps you a bit...........

variable wattage mode... and start at the low end of what the coil is rated for... btw that coil is probably gonna need to be thrown away now.
Also make sure you prime the coil before you install it.. . By putting some juice on the inside of the coil head to soak the cotton from the inside out... then install and fill and leave it for an hour or so... you should be good to go

Thanks for all replies
Have changed to a fresh coil & to watt mode. Started at 40w & is much better. Will slowly crank up the watts through the day to find what works best. Also got a Smok TVF8 Baby Beast tank. Will that need to run in watt mode aswell?
