Personally I blame H.P. Bulmer for my latest blunder. I decided that 4% Inawera Blueberry wasn't strong enough so I proceeded to mix (based on some 3% to 6% max ratio I'd read somewhere) at 6%.

It's proper horrible.

I presume I can rescue it by doubling every other ingredient (base/PG/VG) that I used originally and mixing the lot together again? This, in my warped calculations, should render the percentage down to 3%?

I know what I should have done when 'testing'. But I didn't.

I now have 90 ml over 3 Inawera flavours mixed at 6% that need 'adjusting'.

Also, I later discovered, that I had a wicking issue which was muting the flavour of the blueberry in the first place so it was a compound cock up. Can anyone tell me if my rescue logic is correct before it becomes a complete clusterf@ck.

thanks

rescue logic sounds ok to me.
You could try and rescue a little before doing the lot.

I'd say dilute some to use for now and leave some to see how it is in a few days.. A lot of flavours fade off after a while.

That's one of the reasons for steeping.. I sometimes have to add extra flavour which would taste overpowering at first but mellows nicely with time.

How to half the flavour percentage

Lest anyone be vaguely interested in how to half the percentage of the flavour like I will be doing tomorrow night, I sat and did the math and sussed that I need to add exactly the same in ml (and therefore percentage) of each ingredient but instead of adding the same ml in flavour, I will add, instead, the same in ml of unflavoured PG in it's place.

This takes the overall flavour down to 3% from 6% and keeps the percentages of the other ingredients the same.

Never did enjoy maths. Did my tiny mind in for a while this did. :woot:

Fcuk knows how to adjust it to something other than exactly half though. :P
