Ok, so...if you get through the following wall of text then I hope it helps. If it's too long to read then come back when you really do want to quit and have another read
1. For vaping to work, there needs to be some level of willpower. I view vaping as a miracle for me, and millions of other people, but there's still a bit of willpower required. If you wanted to continue smoking as a way of killing yourself, then I'm not entirely sure why you're trying vaping in the first place, as not much will do the job better than a couple of packs of fags a day. This said, you obviously picked up a vape for a reason so somewhere deep down, the desire to change is there, so embrace it!
2. Nothing is stopping you from doing both vaping and smoking at the same time. Lots of people do this to avoid the headache of desperately trying to get their vaping setup working while craving nicotine. Obviously the best way to embrace vaping is to go "all-in", as that will help prevent you from dipping your toe back into smoking further down the road, but it's definately not the only way to get vaping working for you. Don't give up on vaping just because of a couple of bad experiences.
3. You're in the right place for help!. As long as you're not putting yourself and others at risk by trying to build a Duracell battery powered cloud chucking machine, you'll find the help is there. So stick around the forums, ask questions, look at the stickies etc...there's alot of help for people that want it.
4. As a new vaper, the one thing you do NOT want to do is skimp on the coils you buy. Never buy coils from Ebay/Amazon/cheapcoilsoffthebackofalorry.com. There's loads and loads of good resources online.
5. Possibly look into stepping back a little bit and shooting for a solid starter setup. I've been vaping for coming on 2 years, and I still use an eGo battery with an Aspire K1 tank from time to time. There's no messing around with variable wattage / pre-set battery wattage. You just have a little dial on the bottom of the mod to select the voltage you want. You don't even need to understand the purpose of the voltage being delivered, just dial it into what you find most satisfying. If you are interested, honestly, the best possible starter kit for completely new vapers IMO would be the following:
Tank: Aspire K1 (available from loads of places for around £7)
Battery: Vision Spinner 2 (authentic): https://www.misteliquid.co.uk/acces...d-chargers/vision-spinner-2.html#.Wakg47KGNhE
Coils: Aspire BVC: https://www.misteliquid.co.uk/acces...ls/aspire-et-s-bdc-coil-x-5.html#.WakhLrKGNhE
This combo will cost you, maybe, £30. For the price, it's absolutely flawless and a really stellar vape.
6. The liquid you use is important in how successful you are with vaping. With the above setup, you probably don't want more than 60 VG (vegetable glycerin) in your e liquid, otherwise the liquid will be too thick for the cotton to absorb fast enough, so you'll end up with burnt coils (as you've experienced). Honestly (and this probably won't go down hugely well with the crowd here), you can't really go wrong with mist eliquid:
https://www.misteliquid.co.uk/e-liquid/hs-10ml-e-liquid
Just make sure you pick the 70PG / 30VG option. Combine that with the Aspire stuff I mentioned above, "prime" the coils first (I.E. Put some drops of liquid on the cotton holes, fill up the tank with liquid, stick the coil in and leave it for 15 mins) and it's all gravy.
7. You'll find alot of sellers these days really only cater to more experienced vapers, which I think is a travesty. There are, however, places like https://www.misteliquid.co.uk that cater to the newer vaper. Don't run before you can walk
8. Vaping is cheaper than smoking. I don't think it's fair to say that it's not. It's MUCH cheaper than smoking. The trouble comes in when people start with "premium" gear that they neither want nor need. They pay a premium, then get frustrated because the gear is too complicated or quirky for them to use. If you start at the low end of the market, it's unbelievably cheap. You can get a brilliant setup that will last you months, if not years, for £30, and some solid juice for £3.50 (10ml normally lasts me close to a week in the Aspire K1). £3.50 a week + £30 ever year or so is massively cheaper than smoking...
If you want to quit, then vaping is absolutely worth sticking with. Over time, it might even become a hobby (this is where things get pricey), but, like I said before, don't try to run before you can walk. Start off with a cheap, simple, setup. Get used to the quirks of vaping, then move on if you want to, or stick with what works for you. If you don't want to quit smoking anyway, then the best, easiest vaping setup wont work because it's not a cigarette.
Wish you luck mate And if you do give in, then at least you know the option is there when you do get to the day you want to quit. It's worked for millions of others and WILL work for you if you give it the chance.
