Hi All,

I am new new wire making and seen a video on twisted coils. I have 28g TM Kanthal and decided to do a dual twisted wire.

I succeeded and made a 6 Wrap 0.75 Ohm coil. I use it in my Taifun GTR however having some issues.

First off the wicking is perfect no dry hits whatsoever and i can chain vape all day. I use 70\30 and struggled to chain vape with a standard round coil and it just gunked up after a day. This coils is perfect however the flavour is muted can anyone advise why this is please as i thought the flavour should be better with twisted. Vaping between 10-13w.
Do i need to add some more wraps or try a higher AWG wire.

The thing is i like MTL and the flavours i like are 70\30 so im struggling to find the perfect setup any heald wil be greatly appreciated.

P.S i have a GT One and Kayfun Lite Plus OTW

Just to add it seems i've lost my sense of taste this all happened after using the twisted coils have i poisoned myself lol

I have never had great joy with twisting wires, apart from twisting micro claptons. If I was you try twisting 3 28awg, that should be better as more little bits for the juice to get in. But play with your watts Aswell, that can make a bit difference. But enjoy making your wire as it can be a nice little hobby, and when you get a coil right, its feel good, but right down your wire specs too. :)
Also with twisted wires make your wicking a bit looser, that helps with flavour

Triple twisted 28g will be to high for MTL though right?

Im not the best about MTL... But I don't think the ohms will be too high. You do have higher ohms for MTL. Hopefully someone else will jump in that can help more. But also 70/30 liquid might not be too good as I thought people liked 50/50 60/40 for MTL juice

Yeh thats the issue i only like a few juices and they only come in 70\30 i cant buy a concentrate and diluting it will just change it completely

Putting these figures into steam engine, the reason you are getting muted flavour is because a 0.75 ohm twisted 28g kanthal coil requires 30 watts to produce anything but the wispiest of vape.

The reason your previous coil gunked up is because you are using juice with a lot of sweetener in it, and the sweetener will caramelise onto the coil, causing gunking. There is no way to avoid gunking the coil while getting enough flavour out of very sweet juice - you are with the twisted coil only putting half the power you were previously using (or the same amount of power split over twice as much metal in your coil), and not heating it enough to either gunk up or give you the full sweetener filled flavour.
