Excellent mods. Love the finish on the small Hammond. I bet that took some polishing.
Beautiful work, especially the wood and brass mod, i'm in the middle of doing a wood and metal mod myself and will post photo's when i've finished. Nowhere near as good as yours tho, mines a bit rough and ready
Some very nice mods there. The engraving's quite cool too..
I would love more tools but my space limits me to hand tools and a polishing machine! I would love a pillar drill, a lathe, a milling machine, and many more, but decent DIY mods can be made without them. They put my efforts at building mods to shame,I am restricted by lack of tools, lack of decent eyesight and severe lack of patience. All 3 of my box mods are made with Hammond type enclosures(from China so all have RM dents on top of the shit casting)and contain little else bar the mosfet & lipo cell packs.I'm thinking of a wooden box mod next, though it will likely end up huge as I love the 4 x 1000 MaH lipo cell pack as it gives me approx 30 hours of 0.22 ohm heavy vaping and performance (voltage drop) is brilliant(0.1 V @ 0.3 ohms, rising to 0.19 V @ 0.1 ohms)though the latest box has copper brake pipe for the "wiring" which was a chunt to solder(killed both my 30 watt & 100 watt irons trying to get 1" of pipe to solder to a small rectangle of copper plate)but I think both irons were well past their service life as the new 50 watt iron did the job easily. When I finally decide on 510 connector,& decide on type of wood(I have some Brazilian mahogany)and the GF allows me to buy some woodworking tools.
Very nice set of mods there mate

Get your pics up, show us your progress! Wood and metal are quite forgiving and many mistakes can be hidden when finishing! Cheers
The engraving was definitely not my finest hour! But I do quite like the design. TY

I wish the ally box one was a hammond, they are much better finished to start with. This was a real cheepo rough cast box which was about £3 from an electrical shop. I reckon it took around 8-10hours of polishing by hand to get to that reasonable state. I have since aquired a big polishing/buffing machine and all the gear to go with it so polishing is now much quicker, I reckon it would still of been 1-2hrs with the machine. But the ally marks really easily anyway so no point being too perfect with it.
Cheers again everyone for your positive comments!
I was considering polishing my little Hammond box. Not now! Out with the spray cans I reckon ;-)
Did one of my Hammond boxes with paint, fucker reacted so areas I held the box would stick to my fingers yet refused to be sanded/wire brushed etc back off. After several hours relocating it's paint from 1 to another place, I gave up and used another box. Next time I'm in a hardware shop, I'll pick up a jar of chemical paint remover. (though must remember to wear long trousers for paint removing as last time, I was wearing shorts and the wire brush sprayed the remover all over my legs which burned like fuck until I washed it off)

Looking good what wood are you using ash?Progress so far, just waiting for a friend to drill the holes and cut out the screen slot in some stainless plate for the front.
