Is 18mg too strong?

Hi guys my name is Vicky. I've been using my vape for about a month now but also smoking too just trying to cut down the cigarettes. When I bought the vape the guy in the shop told me that 18mg would be too strong as I would have smoked about 15-20 cigarettes a day.

I've been on 12mg but recently when I've tried to use the vape on it's own for a few days and no fags I'm still craving the fags.

I have some 18mg in the house and I've tried it today but I'm worried that it's too strong and my vape tank is quite powerful too.

Am I ok to use the 18mg for a few days or is it actually dangerous to do so?

I used 18mg for ages when I first started. It does depend a bit on what device you have and the wattages you are running it at. Is it a device that replicates smoking at low watts or a cloud chucker at higher watts?

Hi Vicky :welcome1:

People’s tolerance to nicotine differ: if 12mg isn’t getting rid of the cravings, then I think you should try 18mg. What device are you using? The worst that will happen is you’ll get a little ‘nic-sick’. If it’s more nicotine than your body’s used to you’ll feel a little sick and light-headed. It passes quickly and tells you to vape less often, or with a lower strength liquid. It isn’t dangerous, just a bit unpleasant. 18mg isn’t that high, compared to what some vape.

It's definitely a high wattage cloud chucker.

You could also try a Pod system and get some Nic Salts as they get Nicotine into your system quicker, they are what i used when i first quit after 47 years plus i was a very heavy smoker as well. Any questions about Pods just ask @DeeDee as she is our resident pod queen, i think she also uses salts as well.

Hi @Vicky McCurdy and welcome to the planet.

as said above it all depends on the tank and coil you are using.
with a mouth to lung tank running at low wattage like 10-14watts then 18mg will be fine.
if on the other hand you have a cloud chucker sub ohm using 30-100watts then 18mg will most prob blow your socks off as these higher watt kits are more suited to 3-6mg.
if you get a head rush, headache or feel sick then that is the first sign of nic od. nothing to worry about but best to stop vaping for 30 mins to an hour and the effects will settle.

it certainly wont help as you are still smoking as well. as soon as you do stop you will go into the detox stage which can take a couple of weeks while your lungs start to clear out all the shite caused by the tar and the thousands of other toxins in cigs. you may start to cough a bit and this is a natural reaction of all the crap clearing and usually passes after a couple of weeks. as soon as you have one more cig you go back to the beginning of detoxing.

At first u will also crave ciggies for absolutely no reason, just cause yer mind knows where its been getting its fix from, the taste, the act of smoking, the feeling of completion when u r done, all your habits that u compliment smoking with like eating, driving, drinking alcohol, etc.

It takes at least a cpl weeks to get that out of your system as well. It will happen if u commit tho.

Thank you this is really helpful

Agreed about the nic salt. In hindsight i think i wouldve been able to successfully quit smoking using a much lower level of nic salt than the level of free base i used (much much higher than the levels in discussion)
