Hilarious example of knock off mods. I picked one up for taking to work, something dual-mech that was cheap & cheerful.

This is the only mech i ever had where making it more dangerous improves the experience :18:

Basically, the throw of the firing button only just makes the contact & so the mod only fires half-arsed. The answer....

...1. Remove the switch assembly.
2. Get rid of the locking ring (because it's too thick & in the way of the switches travel)
3. Sand down the top facing edge of the switch's plastic housing (to allow a longer throw of the button)
4. get rid of the coil spring from the switch housing (because the button is too hard to press)
5. Put it back together & bingo ! Now it works.

This was almost an awesome mod, the rest of it is great, just that stupid over engineered switch (face palmmmm)
I might add some pics later.

Disclaimer - I'm not complaining, it's a clone & i know better so it's my fault. Just saying, it's both funny & stupid at the same time.

The name of the mod should of give you an idea of its good...ness. *shrugs

I had to have a search to see what mod you were talking about... And now I want one... Even though you've just explained how bad it is.

It'd look better without the logo though.

Interesting... Got the copper Ivogo clone myself and did this by unscrewing the battery contact under the switch half a turn, raising the nut/washer; and doing the same with the switch contact screw. Hits much better, button is definitely crap though ;)

There were a number of different options, that ^ being one & i pondered it over nearly 2 days. Now i can get full throw on the button with a tiny bit of travel to spare. The sprung plate is pretty firm on it's own without the added coil spring.
I can now sand the locking ring a tad thinner & put it back on. CRIPES !!!
Apart from that though, the size, shape, form makes for a decent mod. Have you seen there's a rose wood version coming ?

If it were the real macoy i bet the switch is a peach on that. On screen i didn't like the logo either & had ideas of polishing it out but now i have it i don't mind. The switch niggle is fixable, it doesn't turn out to be the best switch but then again the mod is cheap. If i bought the original i wouldn't want to take it to work, can't win sometimes, i almost want one now :)

Erk. Have now ;) ...and doesn't that look just a little awkward. A friend has the authentic Abaddon and loves it. Engraving is deeper and he's had no problems with the button as far as I know. I probably should ask some detailed questions though. On the plus side this clone patinas so rapidly I can barely see the engraving anymore.
