Kanger DripBox 160

@LordOvSalem @anthonyb

Honestly guys, don't waste your time on the claptons and put the second deck in with the kanthal coils. It turns it in to a totally different device. The difference is huge and I am still absolutely stunned at how good it is. After trying the claptons I was kicking myself for buying the kit. But I am loving it now. And it will be so easy to rebuild. And for anyone who can't be bothered to buid their own you can get 3 replacement decks pre-made and ready to go for around £4!

@Badboybez

Looks like the DripBox 2 has the new SubDrip 2 RDA which has a new screwless 2 post deck. So the deck posts are gonna be different but the coils listed for your dripbox 2 are "pre-built Kanthal 0.2 ohm coils". Which is what I've got. So yeah, looks like the coils are the same but the deck posts have been changed to screwless. Looking at pictures, the dripbox 2 still has the screw in deck system so I would guess that all the dripbox decks are interchangable. Only other difference I can see is yours has a different chuff cap. Your chuff cap has knurling so it's easier to remove and twist to adjust airflow and it's a different shape, tapering in at the top.

EDIT.
Just watched a YT review. The dripbox 2 does also come with claptons pre-installed on a screwless 2 post deck. That's the one that will come inside the RDA. And you also get a second replacement deck with Kanthal coils pre-installed that is identical to mine. So YES you will get the same coils as I got. The only difference is that one of your decks (the one with the claptons) has screwless posts.

Note: The reviewer tried the claptons. His first words after that were that he wasn't a fan of getting shot in the face with hot juice! He described it as Guy Fawkes and declined a second vape!!! He's not kidding either. Not only does it hit you in the mouth, it comes out of the air vents and hits you everywhere else as well. Now remember, I have even removed the spitback guard after swapping the coils! With the Kanthal coils I now get ZERO spitback.

Personally I have found 60w to be a sweet spot with the Kanthal coils and the airflow two thirds open. Come back and let us know what you think when it arrives.

Thanks for taking the time Mitz.

@Mitz hey man. just a quick update. I hadn't used the standard kanthal build that came with the kit - so have installed it and as you rightly said, it is much better than the claptons. Although it is better, I am still not getting that great vape. I will play around at the weekend I think with some simple kanthal coils and as mentioned previously on this thread, get the coils a little higher and see if that helps.

Still, nice suggestion on replacing those claptons! Much improved! (and I think the tank itself looks pretty good sat on top of the dripbox 160)

Thanks for taking the time Mitz.

Hi Mitz,

Sorry to be a pain...........

It arrived today, and I don't want to have the bad experience you did.
First photo is the coils already fitted, presumably Claptons ??
Dripbox 2 Clapton.JPG

Second photo is the spare setup, presumably the Kanthal ??

Thing that's confusing me is you mentioned a new deck with screwless posts
But both decks have screws.

Please comment.

hey bez - can only see one photo on your post, but that photo is of the standard kanthal coils - the clapton coils look like a guitar string (hence Clapton)

Stock internet image of the installled claptons here...

Yeh, the first photo you have put are the clapton coils. The second photo are the standard kanthal... I have just installed the standard kanthal coil's and they are definitely an improvement!

Hopefully you like it and enjoy the world of squonking!

@Badboybez

You're not a pain mate. That's what we're here for.

The first photo shows the deck with the claptons. The second photo shows the spare deck with Kanthals. The first deck has posts with knurling on top so that they can be screwed down with your fingers. You can also use a screwdriver but it is not necessary unlike the second deck where you must use a screwdriver. Although a screwdriver can be used they are officially called screwless posts.
