Ok so this just appeared on various FaceBook groups as one to report and get banned

https://www.facebook.com/Vapingkids12?sk=timeline&app_data

I admit to being mixed. My instinct is to agree with those who say we should report it. It does our cause no good presentationally. But I also feel a little hypocritical for this reason.

For half of the time I live with my partners stepson who is 14, nearly 15. His dad smokes. His dad's girlfriend smokes. His older sister (18) smokes. His friends smoke. I suspect, though he denies it, that he has tried a ciggy with his mates. Me and his mum vape. He now has a ego/mini aerotank and we allow him to vape. It feels uncomfortable but we feel it's the better option. There is no evidence he smokes and his mates are always asking him a bout it and some have converted apparently.

I started smoking aged 12/13 in 1974 and didn't stop until I found ecigs in 2010. He may develop a dependence on nicotine (he uses 6mg) but better that than smoking yes?

Yet still I don't think FaceBook groups that encourage that ANTZ 'save the children' narrative should be permitted.

Hypocrisy? Maybe

Apparently not the first. One got reported, taken down then reinstated by FB following 'review'

Best thing is to unjoin all vape related facebook groups, Pepper, on the whole, they are cesspits of despair.

Mixed feelings again - shouldn't be addiction at this age - my 15 year old smokes though - and I know what I'd rather she did.

Black n white is so easy - but real life isn't black n white

Its been reported for being harmful / dangerous but fb keep rejecting it.

It vanishes, returns and the process is repeated.

Kids will be kids, be it smoking, vaping, drinking, sex etc.

Everything is an adventure when youre young and its illegal due to age restrictions....

Would we rather kids smoke or kids vape?

Its arguable facebook is more dangerous for kids than smoking :P

When I was 14 it would have been pretty dumb to announce to the world that I was going for a crafty fag round the bike sheds.

When I was 14 you couldn't if you wanted to

I'm of the view vaping is virtually harmless, and I believe a vaper living in the country is breathing better air than a non vaper living in central London.

We all know of the parties with vested interests promoting a negative view of vaping, and our defence, in the absence of any medical evidence in our favour, was to adopt the "Better than cigarettes" tactic which no-one, except the loonies at the BMA and WHO would oppose.

Because so many associate vaping with smoking (including many vapers - I myself denied I'd quit smoking, subconsciously I was still a smoker), we've all looked upon it as taboo.

Now I'm of the view "No worse than coffee", and I wouldn't stop my kids drinking coffee.
