As discussed on Twitter, POTV team ;)

This is a very early draft of a potential leaflet to hand out - if I can find anything better I'll ditch this but if not I'd appreciate suggestions to improve it.

Stop The EU ECIG Ban!

If all the smokers in Britain stopped smoking cigarettes and started smoking e-cigarettes we would save 5 million deaths in people who are alive today. It’s a massive potential public health prize.

Professor John Britton, Chair of the Tobacco Advisory Group of the Royal College of Physicians Source

The EU commission is planning:

to ban eliquid
ban tank systems
require all ecigarettes to have technology which hasn’t even been invented
ban almost all flavours

...as well as many other restrictions.

If this legislation goes through, all ecigarette devices available today will be illegal.

Millions of ecigarette users will be forced back on to tobacco cigarettes that kill between 1 in 2 and 1 in 3 smokers.

An EU Ban Has Already Been Rejected by the EU Parliament

But the EU commission is planning to ban them anway!

YOU CAN STOP THE BAN!

Write to your MP and MEP (visit www.writetothem.com) and urge them to stop the ban (perhaps need something more specific here)
Protest on Twitter using the hashtag euecigban

Together we can stop the ban and keep vaping legal!

Great to the point and informative! I hope to see even more vendors providing information like this in their shops and online orders!

Some other feedback I've had elsewhere:

- as this is a proposal, and we might be dealing with some completely different proposal in a few weeks time, do we want to rush leaflets out now
- is it too negative (should we be saying what we DO want)
- are people going to think if the EU want to regulate them there must be something wrong with them

Personally, my gut feeling is that people will assume the EU are trying to protect the tobacco industry (not many people realise that the pharmaceutical industry is involved), but would appreciate any other thoughts!

True about the Pharma bit... Maybe cut some of the negativity down and add some pros...advise that it is information that could change in a matter of days?

it is going to change in a few days we would be better of waiting, difficult to get people to write twice.

r.e. saying what we do want:

Protest on Twitter using the hashtag euecigban
Ask for fair regulation which will ensure quality without restricting access (this sentence needs to be simpler but you get the gist)

I would state the benefits, to smokers, and their family ,and hint at the EU once again ,having a go at the UK population.
All we hear is the negative side,of ecigs,
Every non smoker knows someone who smokes ,but knows nothing about vaping, let them know its 90% safer for their friends .
To be honest when I was on the look alike ecig,it didn't do much for me,so if a ban came out then,I wouldn't have cared.
The atomiser cured me of smoking,so I wont go down without a fight.
By the way the letter I sent to my MP,was not accepted, why am I not surprised.

We wouldn't... Those people will still die. Its 5m early deaths that can be saved.

Great work otherwise, like it.

I totally see where you are coming from, but I wouldn't edit a scientists quote, and I think there is a balance to be made between being very precise about what we say (people know what we mean) and getting the point across.

If it's to be a printed leaflet then I'd put the EU bit in bold and a larger font. I suspect that for most people that would put them off the proposed ban if the EU are in favour of it.
