Though there's no mechanical danger from using these wires outside TC mode. Both wires can be overheated so the may melt and cause both fire and the emission to truly nasty gasses.

True. You can use them without TC but they shouldn't reach certain temperatures and form oxides. If your wicking is right and everything works as it should it's completely harmless, and to be fair the temperatures needed for this are way above the comfortable vape temperature. It's the dry burning that's absolutely to be avoided!
