In April this year local government takes on public health responsibilities. This will include reducing the number of smokers, clinics, smoke free areas and tobacco legislation enforcement.
Ive just watched the Daily Politics show which had a mini report on the subject. The report focused on the apparent fact that many of Britains Councils invest tax payers money in Tobacco Companies. Not only do I find this to be an amazing fact in itself (though the report pointed out the councils citing good returns on these companies and so offering good value investment) but how on earth can they square investment in cigarettes yet campaign against their use?
