Looking after batteries - wraps

I got some of the standard Samsung 300mAh 18650's - the pink ones from 18650.co.uk

I understood from 'lurking' on here that its essential to look after them both in charging and storage/carriage.

They've got a few nicks in the standard pink wrap - metal visible - is this bad?
Should I cover up - say with lecky tape?

Rewrap them, wraps are pennies.

If you have to ask, then yes it's 'bad'... Don't Danny around with trying to tape them up, it's honestly not worth it.

You need to rewrap em, with proper 18650 wraps as soon as poss....check out 18650.co.uk or fogstar for wraps....n google wrapping its a doodle

As above, and if you've bought cells from fogstar recently , you can use the repair centre on the site and get wraps for the price of postage

It's not great and especially bad in a dual cell, series configuration mod because one will be positive and one will be negative .... so you are looking at a possible hard short across the cells even in a regulated mod. Cover with tape right now and get those wraps ordered.

+1 for self adhesive insulators as well. I've had the non-sticky ones fly off and go under the wardrobe before. Turns a two minute doddle into a furniture removal chore.

I've found this thread just in time, my batteries have got little nicks in them and I was unaware of the problem, I've just ordered 10 wraps from eBay for 1.99.
