Hi guys,

I've been reading through the forum for the last few days and seems full of knowledgeable folk so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I've been vaping for around 18 months now and turns out cigs taste really bad, who would have thought it!

I started by buying one of the Blu pod kits on a whim due to it being the same price as 20 cigs and it told me enough to think I could make the switch permanently. I very quickly ditched the pods and moved onto an Aspire Pocket X. Quite liked it but after a while it started to leak constantly, not pocketfuls of liquid more a constant seeping.

So I decided to buy a new AIO pen and the local vape shop recommended the Smok Pen 22. Now I much prefer how it vapes but it definitely uses a lot more juice (both battery and liquid) and seems to burn through coils a lot quicker. I generally runs out of battery half way through the day (with no indication the battery is low beforehand). I generally carry the PocketX as a spare.

Now the battery on the Smok is getting worse and it has started heating alot and cutting out after a few seconds draw. It has also been plagued with a seepage issue. Time for something new.

This is where i need help, although i have narrowed down the requirements.

I'm basically looking for a mod with an internal battery that will last a days medium usage (or a night out) without running out. Also something that will comfortably fit into jeans pocket. Vaping wise I would like something somewhere between the 2 i have used, a reasonably airy draw. Something that doesn't burn through juice too fast and preferably something that wont leak.

So here what I've been looking at, nearly buying them all then changing my mind.

OBS Cube 80W - Big battery but will lack of TC be a issue?
GeekVape Aegis Mini - Smaller battery but rugged
Innokin Kroma A 75w with Zenith tank - Smaller battery, MTL tank but VW and air hole could be enough
Voopoo Drag Mini - Biggest battery, very polarised reviews, either amazing or crap!
Vaporesso Revenger Mini 85w - Decent reviews

So I guess the tank is secondary to the mod, being cheaper to change if i don't get on with the one in whatever kit i choose. I guess in reality all of the above will be fine but i really like to overthink these things (wanna see me trying to buy something expensive).

I have kind of been thinking to go with the Cube mod (3000mAh, compact) paired with a zenith tank but I've read too many reviews and now i'm more confused than when i started.

So can someone please make my mind up for me lol

Sorry about the ramble above (and any typos, even i don't want to re read it).

Cheers, Rob.

Hi mate, welcome to the Forum. I am a fellow newcomer and already absorbed as much as the advice the guys and girls have given me, they're a good bunch.

The one I use is a Joytech Exceed D19, I thought it had wore out on me, but turns out I just needed to change the Coil, thanks to advice I got from on here, and yes, it made a big difference, but again, from advice on here, I am going to buy a Coolfire Mini with the Zenith Tank, purely so that I am not without a Vape again, as I had a slight problem last week and ended buying a packet of fags, so don't want to be in that position again.

You won't be stuck for answers on here mate, as I said, helped me out several times already. Good luck on your journey.

Hi Rob and welcome to the planet.

ill let others recommend built in battery mods as ive not bought one in about 3 years. all dual replaceable batteries for the last 3 years for me.

the zenith tank is well liked on here or even the zlide but ive not tried either.
the smok coils have atrocious QC for a good few years now with so many reports of them only lasting 2-3 days is enough to put anyone off but of course the shops dont tell you this as they want to make a sale.

youve mentioned some good mods there but before you buy its worth checking out our recommended hardware suppliers on post 5 here as some like cloudstix and ecigone have sales on POTV Vendors & Recommended E Liquid Suppliers

So I guess the tank is secondary to the mod, being cheaper to change if i don't get on with the one in whatever kit i choose.

I don't necessarily agree with you here, I think the tank is the most important part. It might be cheaper to replace but once you have a tank that works for you, it will work on practically any mod.

The tank is what will either give you a vape you enjoy or one that you don't. You might end up buying them separate rather than a kit but at least you'll have what you want then.

Think about what you want from the tank, get that nailed down then find a suitable mod.

p.s. the Drag Mini isn't really a 'slip into your jeans pocket' size, so I'd probably rule that out.

consider the eleaf ipower mods, good battery life, kinda plain looking but very well liked by a good few apes

oh and theres a line we use around here 'there are no stupid questions' so ask away:cool:...we've all been where you are and it was probably easier for a lot of us as back then there was bugger all to choose from

....oh and welcome

Cheers, guys. I see a bit more reading in my immediate future.

I get what your saying about the tank being more important for the vape. My thinking was they are cheaper to replace and since I have limited experience I can see a bit of experimenting in my future .

Should probably add, i'm not bothered about huge clouds, in fact probably the opposite. Also looking at a budget of around £50 (hence ruling out external batteries by the time i add batteries/ charger)

Hi

If you’re a moderate mtl user then anything around 2000 mah and above should last a day.

As @Simon G says the tank is the most important thing! Most mods will do a decent job for you. It’s only when you start getting into things like tc that you might need something a bit more technical. For the overwhelming number of vapers you’ll never go near tc. Most use wattage and are fine.

My advice would be to get something you like the look of mod wise. Forget what all the reviews say about tc and the like. You really won’t need it. Get something over 2000 mah and something that is small enough for your needs and something you’ll feel happy looking at every day.

The aegis is a solid mod and well liked as is the cube. If you’re wanting a tough mod then the aegis would be the sensible choice.

@rob.j.jackson i have the cube and it lasts me all day around 60w.

I had a small issue at first with it not charging and they sent me a replacement.

Then the old one started working so I will have a brand new Cube and tank up for sale soon along with the old mod so effectively two batteries as I’m moving to duel.

I think I can put it up once I reach 100 posts!

It’s a great little mod. Goes in pocket easily and you can fit a lot of different coils in. Been using Vaporesso ones.

Hi Rob @rob.j.jackson

The Aegis Solo is a mod I got fairly recently and am very happy with it. As you say it is very rugged but also extremely comfortable to hold.

I chose it over the Mini - because it takes standard batteries and the Mini has an inbuilt battery. Using 18650 batteries does really mean you need to buy an external charger. But if a battery fails you don't need to retire the entire mod. And having extra batteries means no downtime while charging. Yes it is more expensive. (Might add another £35 to your budget) But then I have four batteries - two of which no longer last long at all - but they are three years old and have been used almost daily. Those are Sony's which are failing - the other two LGH2 are almost as good as new amazingly.

But then the Cube also has a good reputation. And though I don't use stock coil tanks - the Zenith from PBusardo and Dimitri looks to be a sound choice. I have a rebuildable tank from those two reviewer/designers, the Ares and that is going well and thankfully not leaking. The Zenith coils come in various resistances and you might experiment to see which suits your style of vaping.

So I think you are certainly on the right track here.

But as to going through juice, maybe lower resistance would mean increased consumption. Higher resistance would cut down on juice but would be a more restricted draw (mtl).

Another factor to consider is the flavour of juice you prefer. Heavy desserts, creams and custards tend to shorten the life of stock coils. And most commercial juices (as opposed to diy mixes) contain a lot of sweetening which also gunks up the coils.

Best of luck with your selection.
