I wonder if some of you fine knowledgable peeps can help.......

I happily mix my own juice now and have been for the last few months however every time I mix a menthol flavour it goes lumpy and blocks my bottle nozzle. Every other flavour is fine. The following pic is a typical mix for me -

I use PG with nic (54mg)
VG no nic
Deionised water at 8%
Flavour (menthol at around 8 or 10%)

I like a heavy vg mix so don't use any pg no nic, the water and the pg nic is enough to keep the juice thin enough to work worth.

I don't use crystals and have tried a couple of different sources of menthol flavouring with the same result. It only happens when I mix menthol itself, never when I mix, say, banana and menthol

What am I doing wrong???

Any help is appreciated.

Try warming it up and giving it a good shake. See if it works better with vodka instead of the water.

I have had #LumpyMenthol normally a good shake helps get rid of it....they were premixed ones....not mixed my own yet

I mix my own menthol, to a very similar recipe to yours except I water down the VG with vodka not water

I heard that deionised water gives more vapour than vodka, but can't remember where I heard it - I may have dreamt it !!

I have also tied warming it up which seems to work until the juice cools down again, then it's back to being lumpy again!

I've not had any problems with vg and menthol. I use crystals and have to keep it warm. I did mix some absinthe the other day (same recipe but 6% Nic) and that was lumpy as hell so I gave the bottle a warm bath and it is perfect now.

I tend to mix the menthol cyrstals into vodka and bung it in the microwave for a bit ... 10 seconds, take it out and shake it up, rinse and repeat until the crystals are fully dissolved.

I then use this like a strong flavouring additive ... only needs a small percentage so the vodka doesn't thin out the mix too much.

You've probably worked this out already, but it's advisable to wear gloves when handling menthol crystals and whatever you do, don't rub your eyes with any trace of em still on your hands ... stings a bit. ;)
