making coils

Have been making my own coils for a little while but would still consider myself a newbie. Mainly using kanthal, some tiger wire and ss. Results on the whole have been good. Today I got some Clapton wire and while it vapes ok they look shit! Any tips or advice?
I use a coil jig and have had very few problems when it come to adjusting other coils, infact i would say they look pretty good but the claptons are bad.
