Making my own E liquid

Ahem!

If the wife prefers her liquid with higher PG it should be easy enough to use same flavour with different VG/pg ratios. I personally find POTV’s own calculator very usable. There is also a mixing forum here with loads of info and advice. Some juices take time to reach best flavour potential, ie. need time to steep, while others can be not as nice after a while so better made in smaller quantities as needed. I’m just a bit concerned that if you made up a large amount of anything and didn’t feel able to vape it, you would have not achieved any savings.
I have found making my own juices involved some financial investment initially but works out a lot cheaper now.

I like the calculator i was recommended earlier i grasped it really quickly , where as others it wasn't working for me personally, With regards to making smaller quantities i hear what you and a few others are saying and no longer have any intentions of making a litre in one go i'm going to start with 10 ml , then move up to 50/60ml once ive nailed the %s i may not even add nicotine on the first few test runs.

Sounds much better !

Another thing to bear in mind if you are making a large amount, some fruit flavours fade over time so don't make more that you will vape in a month or so. The opposite is true for custards of course.

..... and tobaccos, six weeks at least before they're ready to my taste! ;)

Heya folks.

Been reading some of this thread, as i'm trying to get my head around DIY juice making. My favourite ADV from Vjuice, was until recently, available in concentrate form, sold in 30ml measures. Have found some other stores still selling them, so intend to get some before they disappear.

Had a look on Steam Engine, does this look right to you experienced DIYers?

Using VG, PG & 7.2% Nic base from a well known company, that cannot be mentioned..but you know who i'm talking about..my target mix would be:

Total mix: 500mls total.
50/50 VG/PG ratio
9mgs overall nic strenght (from @100%VG 7.2% nic)
Concentrate 100%PG
Concentrate mix 15%

Steam Engine recipe result:

Does this look okay to you lot?

BTW: Is there any difference in taste with using PG nic base to VG nic base? I don't understand why there are two types myself.

your number look fine mate, although as above, you might want to try a smaller amount to start with. Less to throw out if its filth that way. :18: It may be you want 12% flavour, or 20% flavour. Its easy enough to adapt a juice, but easier still with small amounts until you get it right, and you won't be messing about with lots of nic.

They do nic in PG and VG and a mixture of both so you can get your percentages right, have a play with the numbers to see that you can't get 20% flavour, 9 PG nic in a 70/30 mix for example.

Aye, hence keeping it closer to 50/50..as this ratio makes getting the higher nic strenght easier to achieve. I'm guessing a really good set of digital scales will be needed to get those exact quantities though!

Acording to the manufacturer, they recommend a favour mix of between 10 to 20% max. I thought 20% would be too strong, & 10% maybe a wee bit to weak, so cjhoose the middle ground! But yes....it makes sense to do smaller quanties first to get the recipe right first.

Thanks Obi! :)2:thumbup:

You need a set of scales that weigh to 0.01g like these (you'll probbo find cheaper elsewhere)

I'll roll out that old phrase 'taste is subjective' here, only you can tell whether 15% is right, hence making a few 5-10ml testers. If you think about it, the difference between 10% and 20% is enormous, so manufacturers realise its very much down to your taste.
