Mechanical mods

Those designer mods look absolutely gorgeous but they seem rare as hens teeth and the Devils own work actually finding a vendor who has them in stock. Putting my name on waiting lists seems a lot of faffing about.

I've got to be honest - I got my Don from Moju Republic at the beginning of last year when they made their ally ones - they haven't produced a Don to my knowledge ever since, and their lack of communication regarding production pi$$ed a lot of people off. They don't seem to come up very often in the classifieds either. The Galileo was the first "proper" mod I ever saw in a photograph and everything about it screamed "BUY ME!", but I had to wait until late last year when one popped up in the classifieds here. I rarely use either, to be honest as VV and VW vaping is bar far my preference.

The only other thing I would say is that these "here today, gone tomorrow" mods are all well and good when they are behaving normally. When they start being naughty and you need a spare part (even for the mechanical mods), you can find yourself up a certain creek without a paddle if, like Moju have done, stop making the mod and don't have any spare parts. When they do become available, they are like rocking horse shite and are snapped up within seconds.

At least with a home build or an off the shelf mod you know that it is either easily replaced or repaired. The money commanded for "designer" mods rarely justifies the long term advantages in terms of customer service and repairs judging by the tooing and froing that I've seen from time to time, which essentially drives prices up to ridiculous levels for what is essentially a lithium ion torch body with an atomiser connector. Of course, these are just my simple musings on the matter. :D

Check out todds reviews then check the classifides if you wanna save some money
hello AndyM ive just watched todds review on the mankos mechanical mod its brilliant
i have tried to make something similar but nowhere near this standard of mod plus my starter button kept melting i dont know what i was doing wrong haha

Have a word with Ethelking in the modders section he will prolly point you in the right direction for a more powerful switch did you turn the mod yourself

no i didnt turn it ive only some hand tool i was using a little torch body think it was made of alloy
i did get a few vapes out of it before it melted the button haha

Benefits - simplicity and sometimes durability. Disbenefit - fundamental flaw that as you use the battery the voltage drops and ohms law and all that - your vape gets weaker. Can be solved with a Kick or Crown - but for the price of a Kick you can buy a Vamo .

+10 to that Mark. I've tried to get rid of it a few times, no interest - then you pointed out the distinct advantage of keeping hold of it - so now it sits on a shelf on an antique pine wall unit in the living room, getting all matey with my Galileo. Weird how your first "proper" mod always seems to find a way of staying with you, isn't it? :)
Is it aluminium or stainless?
I'd consider buying that if you were still considering selling it. Or I might get a grade b stainless one from moju

Hi Wigglypops. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'll be totally honest, I don't want to sell it as it seems to want to stay with me - PLUS it is a bit tired! If you want my opinion, I'd go for the stainless steel second, if they're still available (which is weird, as they haven't been for months and months), as one of those will be much harder wearing. I dropped my Don and it rogered the thread a bit, but a S/S one will be able to handle that sort of thing a lot better.

Cheers, no problem, just thought I'd inquire.
I've seen a few people post about the grade b dons elsewhere and they seem to have very minimal damage. Knowing my luck I'd get a flat one or one shaped like a banana but I might risk it
