Mephisory, yes that's the word for having a miserable experience with the mephisto. Bought the V2 a little while back and have hardly used it coz the damn fuckin bollox oring is too big. HTF do they manage to clone devices so well and then put a too thick oring in them. I just can't get my head round it. Had the same problem with the veritas until I somehow managed to pry the topcap off and I removed one of the orings so the topcap goes on and off now easily. You wouldn't think getting the size of the oring right would be the most difficult part of producing a clone, but seems that it is.

But the mephisto, I got no replacement orings n I bought this thing n really wanna use it but can't. I think it leaks coz I have to push the top cap down so hard to get it to go over the oring, I think the pressure causing the liquid to leak out. It's too fukin tight! What to do.

Can you tell this pisses me off!!!

I've stretched a drip tip oring around a dripper before with success.. Every oring I had was too big (crap clone) but that worked... I snapped a few trying though.

I've got a couple of drippers that arrived with o rings so tight you lift a building with them.
I did some trial & error with various sized black nitrile rubber o rings until i got it perfect. Turned out to be a totally wrong size that worked best, smaller than the attys diameter so that when stretched they are thinner, works brilliantly but like i say, trial & error.

I took a spare oring from the veritas set and put that on, but it's too thin. The top cap just comes off too easily, so I don't see how using a smaller oring and stretching it works. I will go through my atties tomoz and see what I can find. Thanks for the tips and advice guys. Dear me, what a palava!

I have 3 Mephisto RDA's,2 x V2's and an V1.The V2's were purchased as the V1 was so easy to convert to bottom fed,but the V2's centre-post screws are so fucking tiny I had to give up on any ideas of drilling through them. One of them has a perfect fitting O ring, the other has the same issue as yours(too fucking big)so makes priming a job I try to avoid.I'm sorely tempted to dig out the blowtorch & heat the top cap then slide it over the O ring for a few seconds and try to melt a fraction off the ring.If it fails,I have a selection of long dead 22 mm RDA's that might have a suitable fitting O ring though.

Guess it's look of the draw then. It's putting me off buying any clone rda's anymore. I could just buy original I suppose, but I find the clones just as good as originals I've seen most of the time. Seems silly to pay an extra £50 for the sake of an oring.

A selection of various sizes of these are handy to have around... METRIC SIZE O-RINGS, VITON O-RINGS items in Sealforce O-ring and Seal Solutions store on eBay!

They're a good supplier & i still have some different sizes at hand for what may come. It isn't just clone rda's, mine are genuine. It isn't just the overall diameter, it's the section diameter too. E.G - My 16mm rda is perfect with a pair of 1.5mm (section diameter) x 8.5mm (overall diameter)
All trial & error but good to have a selection around with rebuildables.

Ok thanks. I don't know what size I need though. I guess if the oring is a bit fat then take half a mil off that. Is that the section diameter then? the empty space in the middle.

I just can't say, it's totally trial & error but if you measure your original rings they will give a good reference point.
Say you have 14mm x 1.5mm already & it's too tight, might be worth trying 14mm x 1mm or even 10mm x 1.5mm because when stretched more they become thinner.

Ok, I see. I'll think on this and do even more research, see if can find if anyone's replaced the oring before.

Edit: Actually, thought just occurred to me: @Chegs you said one of your mephisto's V2 orings fits 'perfectly'. Can you measure it for us? Thanks!
