My E-liquid has nasty taste

Hi, new to the forum and a recent giver upper of a pipe.

I have tried a few flavours so far and do like the ry4 and ry8, sweet tobaccos and a few sweets, so far, particularly Parma violet. I had one free with a purchase from gosmokefree, which tasted fine so I purchased a 100ml bottle with some ry4 from BlueStar e-liquids..
It tasted fine, maybe a little muted and bland, but like parma violets so I was happy... However, it started to taste and smell plasticy, almost chemically and generally not nice at all, I cleaned my coils and tanks/ clearomizers, tried again, still nasty. I've tried it one or twice over the last month and it's getting worse and worse tasing and smelling less and less sweet and almost like the bottle it's kept in, yet the ry4 is in the same type of bottle and it's fine (relatively), certainly vape-able unlike the violets...
Any ideas? I will be avoiding BlueStar and even considering involving trading standards as it's that bad ( if they cover such things as vaping)

Looking forward to your thoughts and maybe a little more understanding of various base components that may be best to avoid in e-juices etc

Neil

Hi Neil and welcome to the planet.
I've not used blue star before but sounds like a dodgy mix. Does it have a peppery taste as that's naff nicotine.
They were actually done last year for dumping hundreds of five litre bottles over a fence and there was a at first hazmat chemica incident as at first not known of content.
As they are quite cheap it's sort of you get what you pay for.
Have a check of my recommended list stuck at the top of the new users section which have all been tried and tested by members.

Hi, welcome...I suspect you know the answer, we have all bought juice that is not great....try Manabush for sweet dessert type tobaccos.

You may not know of the effects of "steeping".

The various ingredients start breaking down and combining from the moment the juice is produced, and this is accelerated once the bottle is opened, and will increase as the volume goes down and the amount of oxygen in the bottle increases.

This is usually beneficial, but as Parma Violets is exactly the sort of flavour that is likely to taste chemically in the first place, steeping may just make it worse.

This is a common scenario though - a juice tastes great at first, but as you get used to it you start picking out other flavours it loses its charm.

I would never use Blue Star. That's the guy who was done for dumping 100's of litres of "chemicals" in an industrial estate because he ordered the wrong stuff.

I made some ry4 double with vanilla about 2 weeks ago and it was great at first but now it starting to lose all flavour become quite bland, so more fuel for my steeping scepticism.

Thanks for your replies, pretty much confirmed my thoughts, but I won't be using bluestar again. @MrDJ not so much peppery, more taste and smell of unsweet, chemically plastic, makes my nose tingle and eyes water a little when sniffing the bottle.
Purely on my bodies response to the smell I will burn it, I wouldn't even risk pouring it down the drain... Only a couple of weeks old the first taste was ok but gradually worsened.
I'm aware of the term steeping but yet to learn all its idiosyncrasies... Smoking was so much simpler :D

I had a similar thing.
Vanilla Custard first tasted awesome, then a few days later tasted like play dough
