Hi All,

me again bugging your asses off :) sorry, here's the best place to ask for :)

I'm thinking of getting my first mech-mod; but i'm really confused actually...

First and foremost everyone mentions these things might catch fire or short out and explode etc...
I'm honestly really worried to get my first one. Shall I risk it or will it just boom the first time I try it?

On another note, would I be able to use my 510 tanks, rtas ? Can I use just any 510 with mech-mods or not? Ex. Can I use my Klin M or Wotofo profile with it?

I'm looking at Hell Vape's Trishul v2 at the moment, honestly because it simply caught my eye whilst at my local reseller (https://hellvape.com/mods/trishul-v2-mech-mod.html).

Anyone that uses this mod, any comments?
Should I go ahead and purchase it bearing in mind this will be my first mech-mod?

Cheers for your help guys ;) have a good one

The rest of the guys will chime in I’m sure with loads of advice.

All I’ll say is read up on ohms law.

search mooch on YouTube he offers the best ohms law advice.

Mechs can be dangerous there is no doubt but in educated hands there safe.

If you struggle getting to grips with ohms law then there are a lot of other alternatives with safety features built in.

Don't risk it, in my opinion. You don't really know anything about them, and there are quite a few things that can go wrong if you aren't confident in your knowledge of exactly how a mech mod works. You say you are worried - that is reason enough to hold off getting one until you have done some research and are not worried.

If the mech mod you want to use has a "hybrid" connection, that means the 510 pin from your tank or rda presses directly onto the end of your battery. Only certain types of 510 are suitable for this - as someone has said above, no sprung 510's and you want the positive pin on the 510 to protrude well beyond the threaded negative section. The reason for this is that some tanks have 510 pins that are quite flush, and if you screwed the battery in too tight against it the contact could touch both the positive and negative parts of the 510 at the same time, causing a hard short circuit which could very well end in disaster (this is how vape explosions can happen).

At least the Trishul V2 has an inner insulating sleeve. This will help prevent a hard short circuit (which immediately damages your battery and can cause it to vent) if your battery wrap has some small damage as it won't come into contact with the outer shell or arc across the gap and cause either an autofire or a hard short when you screw on the switch or when you press the button (depending on which way up you have the battery, of course).

You also need to understand the constant discharge rate (in amps) of your battery and whether the amp pull of your coil exceeds that, when the battery is fully charged.

My advice is to only get into mechs once you have read up or watched lots of tutorials on the various safety aspects and don't feel worried anymore because you know what you are doing. :)

Firstly, what are your reasons for wanting a mech?

As I mentioned a while ago on this forum, this pretty much became one of my hobbies and I'm constantly wanting to experiment with new stuff... Also, the mod is sleek and I loved it immediately, hence my sudden interest; Whilst also appreciating the fact that it's "mechanical" and should be the rawest form possible as a mod. I wish to get into mechs and add some to my collection, also learn more and customize further...

This is an old video but covers the basics...

Cheers for this mann <3

also @speedfreek67 thanks a lot for the info, much appreciated.

I am willing to go through the learning curve, but I just wish to do it "the safe way" if there's any "safe" way to do it. Is the mod i'm looking at a good place to start or not?

Thanks all

Whether a particular mech is "a good place" really depends on the knowledge level of the user.

That mech being a hybrid, combined with you asking:

Can I use just any 510 with mech-mods or not?

Suggests no.

You don't appear to appreciate that there are different styles of mech, or more importantly, what those different styles are.

By the way, I'm not talking about shape...

By all means ask questions, research, find stuff out - but imo this really isn't a "learn by doing" situation.

As mentioned earlier, up till now I have no experience or any knowledge about mechs, hence why I'm asking this. On the other hand the mech I've mentioned "Trishul v2"... there are 2 versions of version 2, lol I know quite confusing. The latest of the v2 is surely a "hybrid" but I'm not sure about the original v2, once again I need to learn more about "mechs" in-general. I am only seeking for some initial pointers on where to start or wether should I just purchase one and start there or not?

Thanks

I spent literally Months studying OHM's Law and learning about Mech's and even bought a couple only to find i much prefer regulated Mods. I think i used my Mechs 3 or 4 times at the most. To me it's not something to rush into and you will probably end up like me not using them. Just remember safety is paramount when using Mechs.
