My Genny Hell

I keep wanting to love my Gennys but I find I use microcoils & cotton in silica tanks more and more.

Still haven't got around to trying to set up a micro/cotton genny, too many things to do, not enough time.

Just read something and I want an opinion on it

Do RBA's work better on Mech Mods? and if so why?

u need to pull in the coils a little closer to neg and pos posts . a few minor squeezes with some pliars and that should sort it

Using a Vamo V5, so anything below 1.2 ohms it doesn't like

I'm a bit reluctant to buy anything else just yet as I already have 2 protanks, a protank 2, a protank 3, 3 hypertanks, 3 Kamry X10's a T2 and an RSST

Was toying with the idea of a Mech Mod, but heard they were dangerous, stories of exploding batts etc

I think my problem is choking the wick, all my SS wicks fit to the point of a slide, but if I put a sleeve or a cotton top on i kind of have to twist the wick through the coils to get it to fit

but even if the wick was being choked, I should be able to get something by dripping shouldn't I?

is the SS Rope a bitch to cut?

Have you tried running off of two 18350 batteries instead of a single one or 18650? In case I'm not stating the obvious, you get more power

Hiya

Maybe I'm lucky (and not gloating here, honest - it took me ages to get the hang of this), I use a mini did clone and aga t2 on a daily basis and get a good coil every time.
I use 70% VG and so I use 325 mesh. I also use .5 x .1 ribbon (far less hot spot trouble every single time with ribbon!)

All I do is.....

roll roll roll the wick and trim it down so it's got a bit of wiggle room in the wick hole. I like the wick to be rolled in the same direction as the coil will be wrapped - it makes moving the wick inside the coil easier. Take the wick back out and heat the end 2cm up with a lighter for about 10 seconds to get just a bit of oxidisation (is that how you spell it?) started.
then I just drop it in and give it 4 wraps of ribbon (turning the atomiser to do the wrapping - not just pull the ribbong all over the place)
On the AGA I pull the last wrap behind the wick and then around the post (like I'm going to do a figure of 8). this gives me a shorter leg.
then I add a few drops of juice to the wick (again to help it oxidise quicker) and start pulsing.
while pulsing I might move the coils a bit and also I spin the wick a quarter turn from time to time.
Last thing - I was told a trick and it seems to help....
If only the top coil is glowing, move the 2nd coil. If only the top 2 glow, move the 3rd one......... bottom line, if you're getting a hot spot the coil below is probably the culprit.
I don't really know how true the supposed science of this is - but it works for me :woot:

oh and good luck ;)

What Ive found to be the key to Genny success is always make sure there's plenty of room around your wick. I always make my wick .5mm smaller. I block all holes and I find the suction pulls juice through. I hear it do a little gurgle after so I know there is a vacuum. Its taken a while to get this right and I'm sure everyone that says they get dry hits needs to make their wicks thinner.
