Weird?
If I’d had stuff stolen from work I’d be claiming on a company policy, given that everybody I’ve worked for had one. Part and parcel of that would entail reporting it to the police. My union covered me for spiteful damage too, something I claimed for twice. Once for a malicious scratches to my car and the second was for a motorbike destroyed by a little twat putting gravel in to the engine via the oil cap.
If a company refused to allow me to claim on their policy I’d be leaving pretty swiftly. What kind of self respecting organisation would be happy to let something like this slide and not do anything to look after a valued employee?
I don’t give a toss whether it was worth £50 or £5,000 - a personal theft is a personal theft and demands something being done. I find it a damn sight weirder that anybody would do nothing.
