Need capella advice

Funnily enough I've been thinking about this recently myself. I've never had a problem with concentrates needing to steep and have never noticed any improvement in flavour with older bottles in my collection. I would imagine that by the time they've travelled from the USA to us they should be well and truly mixed and ready for use. The reason I've been wondering though was that I just got a bottle of decadent vapours sour cherry. Now it's not a common flavour and I believe, as it wasn't a same day dispatch, that it was made especially so it's fresher than fresh and I did wonder if it needs time to age. Didn't stop me from using it straight away though :D

Hi, I've not come across a concentrate that smells of anything bad like that, they all smell roughly of what they should be. Can I suggest you smell each of your concentrates separately to try to identify the one most likely to be giving you the bad smell?

I've been trying an alternative route and I'm using VG + water as base because my PG tastes too sweet. Wondering if that's what's giving off weird flavours.

So I just did a quite premature 2 day test of VG based mint choc as well as a steep containing banana + vanilla.

Typical breakdown:

VG 4.8ml
water dilutant 7 drops for approx. 5% of total solution

flavouring 15% total (based on 23 drops to a ml)

16 drops vanilla custard
5 drops banana

I first did an immediate test after bathing the bottles in hot water and found no sweetness and a very faint taste. So far so good - no grim sweetener flavour. Two days later (today) did another test, just to see progression (i.e. not testing to see if it was ready).

Banana custard is starting to get that horrid wheatgrass smell coming through, mint choc tastes like burnt honey, aromas of urine and notes of burning rubber/plastic.

I defy anyone to tell me that un-steeped Capellas are supposed to taste REVOLTING, but a week later taste gorgeous.

For capella's vanilla custard i use 50/50 pg vg with a vg nic base and mix

15% Vanilla Custard
5% Dulche de Leche
5% Ethyl Malto

Tastes great .
