Hello guys,

I have been vaping the Smok Alien with the tfv8 baby and today I changed to the cleito tank. With both tanks I have found that 40-55W is my sweet spot.

Im also going to start making my own liquid as soon as my stuff arrives. I was thinking of buying the Pharao RDA from digiflavour / rip tripper and I know as much as I have to build my own coils (or buy prebuilt but whats the fun in that).
It has come to my understanding that there is loads of different thicknesses etc on these wires that are used to build coils. Im using the smok alien so as far as I know, since its a regulated mod, I dont need to worry too much (or at all?) about the resistance. But 0.2-0.4 is what I have been using so far and I like that. I really like the look of the clapton coils and I would like to build some of those. I just cant find any good information about what wires I should get.

Could anyone on this forum be so kind and advice me on what wires would be recommended for 40-60w vaping and where to get them? Also, whats the best place to get cotton, while we're at it? :) The purpose of this tank and these coils, for me, is to be able to quickly switch between flavours and test my mixes once I get that started.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance guys :)

All the best,

Carty

EDIT: Apologies if I am posting in the wrong section here.

Regarding resistance on regulated mods, you're only restricted by the range your mod will fire at. I don't have one, but I'd guess the Alien will go as low as 0.1.

For your Claptons, I would use 0.5 as the centre and 0.2 as the wrap. This will give you a wide range of options for resistance and power.

Stealthvape has a good range of wires and also sells Cotton Bacon, though if you're ever ordering from Evolution, pick up some Shake and Vape cotton too.

Thank you very much for your reply. So I get to 0.5 and 0.2 by how many circles my coil has or what? Because I saw a wire on amazon and it said 13,7 ohm or something so I was thinking that must be the entire spool?

I'd recommend starting off with a simple coil before diving in with claptons.
How is that? Because I am dealing with two wires? I really want a clapton coil for my testing, and my local shop said that when I buy the pharao they can help me build a coil too. Im just trying to gather up some knowledge up front :)

0.5 and 0.2 refers to the thickness of the wire in mm. You take a length of 0.5mm and wrap 0.2mm around it to make a Clapton.

But I would take @Major Hazzard's advice and start off with some single strand coils.

Yea I might just do that then. But is there not spools of wire that is already wrapped as clapton, so all I need to do is shape it as a coil? I think for my claptons I'll just order some premade ones, and rather practice with regular coils as you say then :) Because im definitely putting a clapton in the pharao when I buy it. The building part is not important to me yet and it seems to be a thing I should take my time and learn properly first. But theres nothing wrong with buying premade ones is there? Ive just really picked up the interest for them as I have heard to produce a lot of flavour hehe :D
