Hi all, new user - and vaper since Boxing Day! I was given an Aspire K2 for Christmas from my husband, and having never vaped before in my life, I found it bloody fantastic! Haven't had a cigarette since :)
The Aspire K2, in fact, has been so good that when I saw one on Amazon for £20, free delivery, I decided a back-up wouldn't go amiss. I used it for the first time yesterday and my vape fluid tasted absolutely awful, like I was vaping washing up liquid. This morning I tried it again with a different fluid, the same fluid that's currently in my original K2- same soapy taste in the new one, yuk, yuk, yuk. Nice pina colada taste in the old(er) one. Pina colada being my sort of thing.
So I'm wondering if I've been (a) sold a dud, (b) sold a repackaged, used and washed unit, (c) there's something wrong with the coil. Any ideas?
Whatever the outcome, if this unit had been my first vaping experience, there's no way I'd be here today talking about it - I'd've given up after the first day, it just tastes too horrible. Long live the vape!

I'd just strip it down, put the tank in a solution of miltons and rinse with warm water, change out the coil for good measure, then re-appraise, good luck.

Hi and welcome btw.

Yeah, sounds like the whole tank needs a good clean & a new coil put in. You didn't say if it was new or second hand? If second hand, maybe the tank wasn't properly cleaned out before you bought it, just a thought.

Also, make sure all new coils fitted, has plenty of time for the juice to soak in, otherwise you could get a 'dry hit', which is the cotton burning, and that is disgusting! I use Aspire products too, not the K2 admittedly, but i find the Aspire's quality control with their coils, can be a bit hit and miss, so make make sure you prime the coil well - put drops of juice in the vents around the side of the coil etc (not the top chimney hole though!), then once screwed in, and the tank refilled, leave for 10 mins or so, to let the juice to soak in.

I had two K2's one upon a time, passed on to friends a while ago, good enough for what they are.

Hi and welcome to the planet.

as said, it sounds like the tank needs a good soak and cleanout.
my first thought was the juice but as youve used the same juice its either a dodgy coil or the tank.
weve heard of re boxed returned units being sold again in the past but i dont think it was from amazon but you just never know.
was the box shrink wrapped sealed?
also over the last 4 years ive seen people mention oily substance in tanks from production line but out of the 45 tanks ive got ive never suffered with this.

Thanks, I've tried the warm water but without the milton as I haven't got any. Coil changed. Still tasted foul at first, now I just think I'm losing my sense of taste! Some of the fluid spit out onto my tongue and burnt it a little :D

Thanks, it was shrink wrapped, came with a little cleaning cloth too. Everything seemed legit... but I think I won't do Amazon again, just in case...
