I was watching the news in the early hours and Africa are not worried, people aren't scared, its a bad cold, no worse. No one is on Oxygen or ventilators over there due to this Omicron variant.

putting aside the prime minister being a cunt, i’m still not sure how clear it is this is less harmful. the initial wave in south africa appears to have been among younger people. so obviously that would mean less serious illness. there’s still info needed before they can reach any conclusion, it seems to me. the experts are being cautious, which is probably sensible. i think dr jc may be being over optimistic, but it will be nice if he turns out to be right.

this article is quite interesting. there’s a virologist postulating that omicron could be the result of an anti-covid drug that merck have been testing in south african patients, that’s had emergency approval for use here and EU. this guy seems to think it could lead to dangerous mutations.

) disappears as the body isn't stoopid. But I can see it dropping, and I can see boosters increasing protection, something that is no doubt important for the elderly and vulnerable. WHO is still only recommending boosters for vulnerable groups, arguing all other boosters would far better serve the rest of the unvaccinated world, as one shot is better than none.Exactly how much difference it makes to the non-vulnerable re sickness level between two jabs and three, only Frieda knows.
