Hi,

Recently got a GeekVape Aegis Max (2 days old) and I'm currently using a 0.2 Ohm Coil (the default coil which comes with the device when purchasing), but somehow the mod is reading 0.18 Ohm. Can anyone please guide me on what this might be? Faulty Device or not?

Already tried firing up, removing the tank and re-seating with no luck. Didn't change to another coil yet since its pretty new and I don't have another coil in hand at the time being.

Thanks

There is often some variation in the resistance of pre-built coils and 0.02 ohms difference is quite normal and nothing to worry about.

I'd just vape it mate, it'll be fine.

Coils are rarely/never the exact resistance stated. 0.02 ohms is well within tolerance.

Combine that with the fact that the reading from device to device will vary quite a bit, I could put the tank I'm using now on 4 different mods and I would get 4 difference readings, guaranteed.

In short, it's normal and nothing to worry about.

I thought I better test that as I just said it..

Z80 - 0.85 ohms
Sensis - 0.88 ohms
Hastur - 0.95 ohms
DNA60 - 0.90 ohms

Ahhh so it's pretty normal for all coils in general?
Quite new to vaping but I'm getting interested fast.

Thanks, everyone for your replies, much appreciated ;)
and thanks @Simon G for your dedication to helping me out ;)

Mine are all like that a .90 ohm coil reads at just over 1 ohm on one mod and under 1 ohm on another. I've never had a coil read properly

Generally speaking, yes it's normal and generally speaking it doesn't matter. Even if the coils are accurately made to a certain resistance, like I said different mods will read them differently. That's due to many things, board accuracy, internal resistance of the mod, dirty contact pins etc etc.

There are circumstances where it could be an issue (it reads lower than the device can fire) or an accurate resistance reading is very important (on a mechanical mod) in your case it's not something to need to concern yourself with... unless it's way off what it should be.

It's pretty common for the resistance to rise slightly as a coil is used too, so you may find that after a few days use it will read 0.22 ohms or something like that. .. again it's nothing to worry about.
