New to DIY Eliquid Making - Where to Start?

Quick question about the Darkstar Onew Shot. I bought one for my 2nd mixing session. It does not say whether it's PG or VG based. It simply says mix at 22%??? Can someone help me with a ration of the other ingredients, PG/VG and Nic (72mg/ml in VG).
I like 6mg Nic and need to know how to mix this. I am guessing it's PG based as it's really low viscosity.

Cheers!

Most flavour concentrates are pg based you have to track down vg based flavours and I am sure they would be marked and sold as vg based.

OK thanks. A lot of these flavours, one shot and not don't say whether they're PG or VG based. That helps a lot to know they are nearly all PG.

Cheers!

Hi Guys, managed to get hold of some scales for £12.50 so not bad at all.

In regards to PG/VG is it ok to get a premixed bottle 70 VG 30PG? how does this affect calculating how much to put into a mix? could someone give a practical example?

Get a recipe calculator, on the phone or computer and keep track of what you make so you can make sensible adjustments. Start with some simple fruit based recipes first and try them out and tweak them.

I would say it is best to have some vg and pg separate because for various reasons you may want to adjust either ingredient.
I do bulk mix my pg/vg a litre at a time at about 80/20 I say about because I adjusted it with more pg so it worked better in a particular tank.

It is cheaper to buy it separate and easy to mix vg/pg in any quantity you want, large quantities if you are sure of the level you want or small quantities if experimenting.

Having a large supply simplifies the mixing, but buying it premixed is an unnecessary restriction imo.

The only trouble with buying premixed Base is that it can vary your final recipe quite a bit depending on what flavours you use. For example, I have mixes which require 3%flavour and others which have various multiple concentrates which add up to 20%.
Use the premix by all means but your final result will vary but if this doesn't bother you that's fine. I'm assuming the premix Base you are talking about also contains your prefered nicotine dose ! This will obviously vary as well. Most premix bases however are calculated so that for instance adding 15%pg flavouring will give you the stated ratio. That's fine, but if you use a flavourart concentrate at 3% then it will throw your final results out.

Hope that made sense ! I tend to waffle :D

Took your advice guys and bought PG and VG separate didn't cost much at all for 1L of each. I have now got my nicotine too 72MG 100ML bottle from Darkstar and tried some flavourings from chefs flavour.

the nicotine is PG base.

Cant wait to start mixing.

Can you guys recommend a good calculator site to measure by weight ? iv seen a few but not in grams.

In terms of storage, I know the nicotine is best stored in the fridge so I will do that, wat about the PG and VG is it the same with them?

http://e-liquid-recipes.com/ is what you are after, option to measure in grams in preferences.

Hi All,

So I have begun mixing, going pretty well so far, made some decent creations that just need tinkering to make them better.

Can you recommend a good place to buy bottles cheaply? 10ML and 30ML bottles are required.

Also do any of you guys sell your E-Liquid ? if so where do you sell them?
