What's new

New to mixing advice please

You really need to add the nic as it's mixing as that's one of the main parts that needs steeping. If you add it 2 weeks later, will need to leave it again for 2 weeks.

Never tried those flavours (Skittles & Jelly Bean) but I have all the individual flavours you are using in recipe. Recipe looks ok but I wouldn't expect much of a strawberry punch from it.
The recipe is suppused to be peach custard i think its from a vid i watched on youtube on how to mix so i just thought i would try it

Also when adding Nic later take into account that it will change your pg/vg ratio and depending on how strong you want may affect your flavour %
i.e. if you're making 12/18mg you would be adding around 15-20% more pg

You need to add the nic or it won’t steep right. There are a lot of posts on here discussing the role nic plays in steeping. It reacts with the flavour concentrates.

Was it yourself mate who put up the little hint about mixing concentrates and nic, steeping, then adding VG/PG?

Tried it myself other week, cut steep down by around 3 days I estimated. On a recipe that only usually takes a week, was a good chunk!

Get the nic in, leave it a couple of weeks and post back and let us know how it turns out.

@mattyk2010 , @Ment , myself and others have been experimenting with steeping just the flavours and nic concentrate first, then adding the vg and pg. It appears to speed up the steeping process.

That should be absolutely fine then. Strawberry is probably just to push the peach abit. Strawberry ripe as a single flavour Strawberry isn't great, needs other fruits.

@Ment posted something about it a while ago, then @mattyk2010 tried an experiment with it as well, and I replicated it after that. I’d been aware of the idea since an email discussion with the guy from atmos labs when I first started mixing, and he explained that liquid darkens faster and more at higher nic strengths.

Well can confirm from alittle recipe I'm working on at minute, it certainly works well. Mellowed out a particular flavour much faster than 'normal' steeping.

I have already bottled this into the 10ml's now and it turned out ok weight / ml wise. I know some peeps who still vape 0 nicotine juice after quitting smoking so needed to make some 0 nic stuff anyway
Its should be good to vape at some point right?
For myself i will add some nic but im going to try the skittlez or the jelly bean what sort or flavor % should i add approx
Should i put a little of the other fruit flavors i have in there as from what i understand they take alot less time to steep than the cram one's

Zero nic is absolutely fine. Should actually require slightly less steep time now. Can always try it aswell at zero nic before making batch with nic. Saved yourself some pennies if turns out youre not a fan.

As for the others, it really depends on the concentrate. Some need 5% some 30%. Only real way to find it is to mix some at X%, if that's not right, move it up or down depending.

DIY is all about experimenting with what works and what doesn't. My first few liquids many years ago were terrible. I now have a much better understanding so can make a passable liquid first time and given enough time can make a pretty good one from scratch.

Well aye, that’s the thing some people puff 0mg, some flavours don’t steep much or at all, and a lot of the time even the ones that need a steep will taste ok or even good before they’ve steeped, or with no nic added. I think the chemistry behind it is probably complicated, but some flavours definitely need to steep with nic to really get the best out of them. Usually custard type ones, desserts, some vanillas, tobaccos etc. @dahut also posted something interesting about how steeping actually changes the nic itself and introduces another different alkaloid (nicotyrine?) that increases and prolongs the effects of the nic. as a result of the reaction with flavours, if I recall correctly.
