Probably a stupid question and i know it's dangerous but Ive got an 8v power pack from a beard trimmer.
Ive taken the female socket with 2 wires, plugged it in and checked with the multimeter and can confirm that 8 volts is coming through the wires.
I though that touching the negative and positive of an atties would fire it up but nothing.
I tried it with a few atties and it doesn't work on any of them.
Can anyone explain please?
Many thanks

I obviously need to put my glasses on because I thought the title of this thread was 'Noddy Holder question'

Has it burnt out the coils?

Nope. They all work fine on a mech mod. I don't understand why it won't fire up. Very odd. Do powerpacks have an amp discharge limit?
On the power pack it says:
PRL: 220-240V ~ 3W
SEC: 6.0V 0 80mA

Ahh. I see.
So just to be sure I understand, it doesn't really matter what the voltage is if there isn't enough ampage?
Ive been doing a bit of reading up and I think I now understand.
If I think of the volts as water pressure, the amps is like the tap.
The power can only be pulled through if the tap is opened.

Is that an alright way of understanding it?

If you measure voltage under load (ie. attached to atty) then you will probably find the voltage all but disappears !

More like sucking tar thru a straw !!

Its complicated this electronics malarkey. More homework needed I think. ;-)

Sorry to be a pain in my noddyness but if I understand this right, most of these household plug in power supplies with high voltage and low amperes are made for things with much higher resistance than atty coils?
It makes you realise how much power is going through these 30A batteries.
