Hi there,

I have put this in the new user section. I'm not technically a beginner as such, I gave up smoking a few years ago for 6 months but eventually failed and went back to the ciggs.

Anyway, I am sort of starting from scratch but with a little knowledge from my previous attempt. From my last attempt, the key was definitely getting the right set-up and even more so a few juices that I enjoyed. I am 5 weeks smoke free at the moment so it is going okay. As well as using manabush juices which are great, I was also interested in some Nic Salts juices. I read a bit about them and liked the idea behind using Nic Salts. From what I read it is meant to allow more nicotine without it being so harsh on the throat.

The problem I am having is the Nic Salts seem to be making me cough a lot. When I first started vaping it made me cough but it went away pretty quickly once I got used to vaping, I am a couple of bottles into the nic salts juice. It is a nice flavour and hits the spot but the coughing is persisting. Is it possible that Nic Salts just don't suit me? Or this will pass? I am using the Kroma R with the Zlide tank. 1.6 coils.

Firstly - congrats on being smoke-free again, well done!

Secondly - yes, it’s unfortunately possible salts just don’t suit you. There are many people that love them, but also a significant chunk of people who they ‘don’t agree with’ for various reasons - including those who say they make them cough. This is from reading posts on here.

Salts seem to make me cough too. I gave up on them but they are perfect for some.

Hi and Welcome, I am one of those that don't seem to suffer no matter what i vape. The only problem i have had with them was chain vaping them when i first started, which made me a bit dizzy and feeling sick. The Kit you are using should be fine for Salts and the only thing i can think of is at what wattage your vaping at. I am using Salts and vape them at 12w and if i try any higher i get a tickle in my throat which makes me cough. I can vape at lower wattage but even a couple of watts over 12 at 14w i get that tickle, might be in my head lol so i stick with 12.

Hi

What nic salts are you using, based on the kit and coil you are mtl yes?

As many have said it might just not agree with u.

Don't know if this helps, and I'm not saying there's a connection .......... but I practically live on Manabush juice .............. and I don't get on with Nic Salts either. :D

Nic salts are punchier on the throat. If it's any consolation to you, They sometimes make me cough too. I think perhaps it's because of the higher nicotine content and the benzonate ( or whatever chemical they add) to help it make it smoother.
But i still vape them because i like the throat hit they provide, i just find it very satisfying.
Perhaps, take a break from them, drink some water, vape them less frequently and less often, maybe vape something else for the next two days or so.
I haven't tried and error'd them, i just think that's the way they kind of are really.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.

I think it really is that it just doesn't suit me. It's not like it is harsh on my throat or anything it is more like a peppery tickle that starts a cough. The Nic Salts juice I was using is nothing special, Vanilla, Tobacco by Tobak. It's not a bad flavour to be fair but there are plenty of other options out there for me that are probably better anyway. I received a bottle of Indigene Kona Paca yesterday and I am really enjoying that so far.

Great forum, I have learned such a lot by just reading through old posts on here. Thank you again for your responses to my question.

peppery tickle sound like either cheap nicotine or nic that is at end of life. are there any use by dates on the bottle?
