I'm about to take the plunge into DIY and I've seen a lot of people advise buying nic in PG format, but I've also read The Alchemist Cupboard's justification for using VG nic. What're everyone's thoughts on this? Which do people prefer working with?

Cheers :)

I prefer pg as it's easier to work with, I would only recommend using vg nic if you are mixing above 70% vg

I prefer PG, it is much easier to work with. At 3mg your only using about 4.2% nicotine so by using VG nic you're only going to be increasing your overall VG ratio by that much (8.4% if you're on 6) the trade off for me doesnt seem worth it.

I use both pg and vg nic, depending on the final ratio i want to acheive, which depends which pg based flavourings i'm using.
I also always use vg with distilled water added (aqueous glycerine) which helps thin out the mix without having to use extra pg, but it all depends on personal preference regarding pg / vg ratios in the final mix you like.

My understanding is that that pg stores longer than vg so If you are stocking up for longterm storage, i recomend pg.

Thanks, everyone :)

This is what got me confused: http://www.thealchemistscupboard.co.uk/important-information/making-diy-e-liquid-a-guide/ (scroll past the calculator screenshot, under 'changing the values of your mix'). I've seen lots of people give the advice you have, that PG is easier to work with, but this suggests the opposite. I'll probably end up going with PG but I like getting lots of opinions.
Pg is thinner Vg is thicker i tend to use pg based nicotine and concentrates.

Thanks, everyone :)

If you mix by weight VG is actually easier to work with .. its easier to control the flow .. especially in non aqueous form

Ok, all that makes sense. I'll likely be measuring by volume rather than weight so it sounds like PG definitely will be preferable.

Any good recommendations for AVG suppliers? I was going to get stuff from Darkstar but they only do VG.
