Couple of questions regarding Nife 30 and TC vaping in general. I am using the I stick 60w

I read somewhere that Nife should be used in Ti Mode and elsewhere Ni Mode. I have tried both and Ni mode seems to work a lot better I presume this is safe?

Also I am using 29 awg Nife30 in the velocity dual coils coming in around 0.16 ohms I am finding 500f and 45w to be ok when the coil/cotton first receives liquid but after a couple of pulls I need to bump it up to 50w and 580-600f to get a decent vape. I have heard of people vaping at 30w and 450f for me the vapour production and flavour would be like using a CE4 and ego all over again.

Finally how to I clean these coils between cotton changes, can I dry burn or will I have to re-wire?

Just to say the flavour from this setup seems so much cleaner and crisper then my normal kanthal builds, although I do feel I am lacking vapour production.

Ni mode makes a lot more sense than Ti mode - this is because the TCR of NiFe30 is closer to that of Ni200 than Ti.

These are the classic symptoms of a wicking problem. You need to wick really sparingly, I mean surely-this-will-flood sparingly - no resistance as you pull the wick through the coil.

You can dry burn it at low wattage, but usually I just re-coil. If the wicking is fast, you can get great vapour production at lower temperature, less gunk on the coils and you will rarely need to replace them.

Cheers, was my first TC build so the wicking was only slightly less than a kanthal build, i'll re-wick tonight and see if that helps

Are you making spaced wraps or close wraps?
I'm finding spaced wraps better and now resisting the urge to prefire the coils before wicking. Shouldn't get hotspots with spaced coils, mine do seem to darken from the inside out.
Personally, I am dry firing to degunk but need to be extra cautious when brushing off the resultant ash. Probably best to recoil.
Getting good results vaping at 210C and 35W

I'm still trying to get my head around the TCRs ... the numbers I have, unless these are wrong, show NiFe30 is closer to Ti ... yet I'm setting to Ni200 ...

Ni200 = 620
Ti = 350
NiFe30 = 320

Depends what you mean byt NiFe30! TCR of Dicodes NiFe30/Resistherm is 0.0032, Ti is 0.0037 and Ni200 is 0.006 but the Stealthvape NiFe30 is 0.0050 so need to be careful as nomenclature is
so variable! :)

I think there are some differences between the different makes/brand of nife30. They all have different tcr values. Have a look on steam engine for your particular wire. Stealth vape one I know off hand is 5000 x10e-6.

Yeah, stealthvape NiFe30 is 0.005 scrumps. Makes a huge difference to the vape from 0.0032 if inputting TCRs.

I very very rarely go above 450F and typically use 50 watts on the vtc mini. That's usually an instant and strong blast of warm as I can tolerate vapour. I tend to think there's something wrong with builds that need to go over 500F to produce a decent vapour temp. I'm sure some people like their vape hotter than me but I like it pretty warm. That's on Aromamizer RDTA and Velocity RDA.

A good point well made!

Dicodes NiFe30, TCR = 0.00320 /K, you want Ti mode
Stealthvape NiFe30, TCR = 0.00500 /K, you want Ni mode.

Yep using Stealthvapes Nife30, Coils are spaced one slightly more so than the other, both are starting to get black likely juice burning I would expect.

It's got to be the wicking - if the wicking isn't fast enough, the coil heats up too quickly, the mod cuts power and the vape is crap. A tempting workaround is to increase the temp setting, which brings back the vapour, but also burns the juice.
