Cheers Jimsie, I wonder what would happen if you wound the Nb and Ti together hehe Did you have a look at the nickel wire? It's really weird stuff to the touch
I take it back what I said about the niobium wire, wound another coil and it don't budge on the ohms front. No mate haven't had a feel of the nickel yet, maybe tomorrow
Guess you just crimp it short of the wick? Might give it a go with the titanium wire
Also should the coil be contacting the wick when you wind it? Tried winding with a needle in there as well to give it a bit of room, is that OK?
To be honest I just wind the coil round the wick and don't bother with drills, needles and all that whether it's mesh or silica I'm using. You probably get better results though with a coil that doesn't have any gaps between coil and wick but also doesn't pinch it so sticking a drill bit in the wick hole to wrap your wire round then swapping the drill for your mesh afterwards would be the best way.
