Not a new user but new to cotton wick

Cotton this, cotton that so of course I had to give it a try. So I made a 4 wrap dual with .28 kanthal. Everything was good then I got that burnt taste when it needs more juice so I take out my cap to put more juice but I noticed that the end part of the cotton was still nice and wet and wasn't wicking properly. I tried less cotton etc and still wouldn't wick right.. Ill put up a pic see if someone can help me out.

looks to me like not quite enough cotton. you want to have it set up so one side has no cotton then the inner middle side of the coil has about an inch of ctoon filling the well.

Well on the sides away from the coil is folded under and I can put more cotton as the well of the omegas has holes on it itself so I would be blocking the airflow..
